Valedictorian Rawlin Tate Jr. is the first African-American male to be awarded valedictorian in Woodland High School history, holds a 4.7 GPA, has taken 21 AP classes, participated in several extracurricular activities, received over $1 million in scholarships offers, will be attending North Carolina A&T on a full academic scholarship.

This is the type of news I like to read. I get sick of hearing about some mega gifted African American student scoring off the charts on the SAT and recieving billions of dollars in scholarship funds, going to some Ivey league college. Like that somehow validates that student's academics.
