He will be there. He was a bit intimidated as a rising freshman last year. It was his first college camp ever and they don't separate freshman out. Which was one of my negatives about last year's camp. They should let the underclassmen do their own 1on1s because there is so much physical difference between rising seniors vs freshmen it's a problem every time it happens. Even most sophs vs seniors. Regardless, he still enjoyed it and said he wanted to come back, so what do I know. Maybe that was good for him, I'm just a dad. 2 inches taller, a little stronger. He been competing with upperclassmen all Spring, so he'll be ready to roll this year for sure. Can't wait. Please let him know the LilMonsterFootball.com media team will be out there to document the entire experience.

This is what I posted in the private forum after last year. Coaching/DrillsThis was excellent. My son was with the DBs and even though he was the only rising freshmen they didn't shield him for this. It's actually what I wanted to happen. He got to spend time with juniors and seniors and get a little taste of the intensity it takes. Not only that but the instruction was very good. Our DB coaches and players are top notch. My son walked away feeling like he learned stuff he didn't usually do coming out of Pop Warner and then middle school. Registration:This could have been a little better. It was in the little room next to the shot put area. It didn't feel like the AC was on in there. Maybe it was because the door was being held open. They should have had it under the bleachers. It was cooler under there than it was inside that room. It did go kind of quick, but it wasn't any faster for those that preregistered vs the ones that walked up. We were walk up registering and we passed some people that had pre-registered. The players that were helping with the heights were playing around too much. I saw them mess up at least 2 kids heights and I was only standing there 30 seconds. If players are going to help make sure you have 1 coach within a group of players to keep them in line. But overall, registration wasn't terrible. It just could have been a little better. B- MeasurablesThey did bench press after the registration and weigh-ins. How many times you can bench 225. I think they skipped this for younger kids and most skills guys. Which is understandable. The shuttle and 40s were done after that. The kids were not identifiable because they didn't have numbers on their shirts. So really all A&T was doing was seeing if someone stood out and then they would write their name down. So unless a kid asked "hey, what was my time?", they wouldn't know. This could be a kids first camp(like mine) and he doesn't know any better to ask because he just wide-eyed to be out there. Now he has no baseline numbers to try to improve on. This technique saves time for A&T moving things along without a lot of effort but is NOT a "Grade A" experience for the camp goers. Its kind of lazy. 1on1 ChallengesNothing new here. They are the same at every camp. Lets talk sheeet, hoot and holler and see if anyone gets embarrassed. This is my main complaint. They should have separated out the rising freshman and sophs into their own 1on1 challenges. The young guys wanted no parts of the older guys, so they didn't get to go much if at all. They were completely intimidated. Some may say, "hey, it was good for them to see that intensity and aggressiveness up close". Somewhat true, but after they watch the older guys for a little bit they should be broken off and allowed to go against each other. Its a huge physical difference between most upper and lower classmen. I gave it an overall B- because some of the stuff that could be fixed had nothing to do with us being a FCS school vs a FBS school. Planning doesn't cost money. My son loved it overall
He thought he learned a lot. Being the youngest camper he was a little gun shy when he faced some of the "stud" older kids, but he took those in stride and knows enough football to understand he wasn't going to win those. And I guess that's all that really matters is that he like it. About 200 kids total. Here were my suggestions after last year- Move registration to under the bleachers. It was way cooler and out of the sun.
- Better shirts. A&T had regular cotton shirts. Tight dri-fit sleeveless(or sleeves) would have looked way better. The shirt had 2 sponsors on the back so they probably didn't pay for them.
- MUSIC!!!! Why didn't we play music during some of the drills? We are an HBCU damnit. Get Lit! Ironically the white schools play our music at there camps. Big ball drop on that one.
- Jumbo Tron! We got a big azz jumbo tron and didn't use it to play a presentation or looping over highlights of past seasons. They had a 48 inch tv in the registration room that you got to partially see while waiting to check in. I say partially because it wasn't mounted high enough to see unless you were right there in front of it.
So we can now tell if anything changes. $50 x approximately 200 campers is not a bad haul money wise either. They also had food after.

Last year they had two lines for one-on-ones. One line was the man up line and the other line was the zone line. So basically a cornerback line and a safety line. The linebackers were also inside the stadium and they were using half the field. Maybe they should have moved more of the kids to the practice field so they could do four lines each. Sometimes you have to many kids in one position and not enough coaches . This year they may have made accommodations for a large turn out . It's not a free camp is it ? If not free they should have a cut off limit for each position that could help things . Also if it's a Prospect's camp why would middle schoolers be there any way , Freshman maybe ,Sophomore , Juniors & up coming Seniors fine . Now if it's a free camp there's not much you can do about the size and numbers attending . Even with a free camp you need some registration and structure. I've been around several on-campus events like this over the years and they all could use some help from a "professional" event planner. Someone that has the knowledge and experience of planning and directing these events. Now I know all of the coaches have seen and participated in similar events but there's a lot more planning behind the scene that they sometimes miss. When you're trying to build a big-time program, you have got to take care of the little things. Those things that parents see and complain about.

If your keeping up with this thread I mentioned we are also doing Duke's DB camp later in June. I just got this email from them this morning. This is the top notch stuff we all mention and why you should have your campers numbered for identification. "We just wanted to let you know that we will continue to offer the service of an individualized film cutup of your son from the camp. We have done this each of the past two summers and these cutups have been greatly beneficial for the development and recruitment of many potential student athletes. These individually personalized cutups will only feature clips of your son participating in all filmed drill work throughout the duration of the camp. While the uses for these cutups are innumerable, the most popular have been:
• Recruitment: This cutup can be easily distributed to coaches and teams that your son is interested in being recruited by. Additionally, we will have a cutup in our film database, here at Duke University, of your son’s workout • Development: Your son will be able to watch himself, critique his movements and techniques, and continue to improve long after the camp has ended • Re-Creation of Camp: Your son will be able to review the exact drills he worked on at the camp and recreate them on his own to continue to work on the drills and their fundamentals
These cutups will be made available for purchase at the camp’s registration on the day of the event. The cost is $40 per participant. We currently only accept cash or check so please make sure that you bring either mode of payment to the camp. These cutups will be made into MP4 files and distributed by email from dukefootballcamps@gmail.com before August 1.
If you have any questions about the individualized cutups, please feel free to reach out to dukefootballcamps@gmail.com
Thanks again and we are excited to coach your son this summer!
Duke Football Staff"
Thats awesome stuff right there! And damn right I'm buying the cutup. They are basically making another $10-$15K from offering this and instantly give themselvese film to look for each prospect if they need to go back and take a look at someone who attended their camp. This is just for the DB camp. They have about 3 other camps over the summer, so they are making a killing. We are behind for real. Lets get this implemented ASAP. Here is an example cutup. I feel it needs to be longer and actually show some more 1on1 stuff, but Notice how their are coaches from other schools helping and observing. The player all have big azz numbers on for identification. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbbJPgYrGsY

A&T camp is also during the NC dead period where no football is going on at high schools, so its a good Friday to get some work in.
