Unless their administration is really ready to put at least double that amount into the rest of the basketball budget and infrastructure then what's the point?

Got disagree a bit. Howard had some really highlevel recruits credit Nickleberry the inability to do anything with them blame Nickleberry!!!
Howard has a National profile. As example went with my daughter to Frisco TX Isd HBCU college fair to my amazement their was at least 30 kids in the Howard line. We ( T) were also there with a booth. Most of the SWAC schools were also. I said this as I think it helps athletic recruiting for them

Howard has become the Dallas Cowboys (sorry Cowboys fans). They seem to be more about getting headlines than winning. From the football coaching hires to all this talk about $700K/yr coaches in basketball...they look like a bunch of attention seekers to me. I don't think Tolly Carr was lying when he brought the $700K salary up in HBCU Gameday......do you?? Seriously, I don't think he or any other media person would be that irresponsible to let info like that hit the web unless someone within the HU athletics dept personally gave him that info.
Howard is turning to Attention-Seeking University......but garnering attention doesn't equate to garnering W's......

It did not read as $700k per year. More likely I think the $700k was to be spread over a number of years.

Adam Zagoria ✔ @adamzagoria
Howard University has now offered Rutgers Associate Head Coach Karl Hobbs a multi year deal in excess of $700k/yr, sources confirmed Adam Zagoria ✔ @adamzagoria
Rutger's Associate HC Karl Hobbs is seriously considering accepting the job at Howard U, per sources
It was the NY Times reporter who clearly said $700k/yr ,it was Tolly Carr who said a "source close to the situation" said that figure was inaccurate.
