After observing the recent men and women's NCAA basketball tournaments and seeing how nearly every big-time head coach was engaged on the sidelines on every possession ... and often up on their feet and barking out instructions in pivotal moments.... do you think Coach Rob will try to adopt a more "hands-on" approach during games next season?
I am aware that he does not have a very high-energy personality, but do you think he can find a way to be more active on the sidelines and attempt to impact the action on the court in real time?
The ultra-calm, laissez-faire style of coaching seems to not be as effective as it once was.

The ultra-calm, laissez-faire style of coaching seems to not be as effective as it once was. Coach Rob will be just who he is and that's it period . You're right. The most stubborn folks are coaches...especially coaches that have winning records. That's the main reason coaches get fired...they refuse to change. I'm not saying Coach Rob is in danger of being fired. But if the AD and alumni want more than MEAC wins, Coach Rob will struggle. I honestly believe that the reason Coach Rob is content with his team's performance is he's clear about the limited talent he has. We really didn't have the talent last season to win outside of the MEAC. Now he recruited those players so he's responsible for this talent gap. You guys have questioned his energy but I question his ability to develop players. Players come in with high expectations their first year but never become better. Or they transfer out.

There are probably pros and cons to each coaching style. I want to know what the practice attitude is. Most coaches that are quiet on the sidelines are really quite animated during practice. JMHO...

There are probably pros and cons to each coaching style. What is the "pro" to just sitting on your hands while your team looks discombobulated during a key momentum shift in the game?

i strongly prefer "energetic" coaches on our sidelines but not quite as animated as connell maynor, who i think went "overboard" at times. coach broadway wasn't very "energetic" on the sideline akin to coach rob except when you f'd up and did something dumb like a late hit or personal foul. then he'd get squarely up in your grill and give you a "tongue lashing" you'd never forget when you came over to the sideline. otherwise, broadway wasn't very animated at all and i was cool with that as long as we win.
likewise with coach rob. i strongly prefer that he'd be a lot more "energetic" on the sideline, but as long as he wins, i'm cool with his "laid back" demeanor. as i've stated before, he could sit on the bench and knit a sweater as far as i'm concerned, "as long as he wins"...

Maybe he will provide some insight into his sideline demeanor during this upcoming workshop:

Coach Rob has to be himself and do things his way.

Coach Rob needs to make adjustments in his style of coaching in order to win the ooc games and tourney games.
