Sam doesn't run the program that way, period. I believe one of the reasons we've won consistently is because Broadway and Washington know how to conduct practice properly. If you're conducting practice properly you don't come out of fall practice still wondering who you're going to put behind center (or anywhere else). Washington has pretty much picked his qb. If any other qb sees playing time it won't be out of some past due attempt to gauge who the starter should be. I may be wrong but, I seem to recall multiple times during Broadway's tenure where the starting QB was pulled due to sluggish passing. Of course, this was before the 2016 season where Raynard began to round into form (when Barnette was hired). I recall the same thing during Broadway's tenure. I assume it would've happened this past year during the first several games if Broadway was still coach. The fact that it didn't shows Washington is much less likely to be playing musical qbs.

Point taken. And if that's the case, Carter will get ample opportunity to work out his shortcomings. However, Ifedi will be given chances in at least spot duty to make plays when Carter can't get things going. I suspected the lack of QB juggling last season was due to Raynard's play in 2017. It will be interesting to see if Washington gives Carter the same long leash or he turns to Broadway-Like tendencies.

I'm not saying mortgage 2019 for 2020, I believe with the current state of the MEAC we have a legitimate shot at winning another title with Fowler and/or Ifedi at the helm. I just hope the posts on this site reflect this same attitude following a potential NDSU route because we decide to walk into the Fargo Dome with a QB with 0 meaningful snaps to his credit. No one at that time should cry, "we should have been better prepared for this game". We have an opportunity to prepare by getting guys that will be here in the near future ready for leading this program and still win 2019. I definitely want to win now and ready to book my flight back to the ATL. I just think there is a responsible way to win now and prepare for if the FUTURE (maybe limiting it to NDSU is what has you in an uproar). I believe this is the same site that is dogging my guy T-Rob for his non-conference record, let's be equal here. And yes, T-Rob is a coach who has won regular season and MEAC tourney titles. Yet he isnt doing enough in the non conference. I honestly believe my scenario will ultimately play out anyway since, Carters playing style lends you to believe the backup will plenty of starting snaps this year. So here's to a 3-peat and knocking off perennial national champ to Kickoff 2020. i agree with the notion that its in the best interest of our program's future to ensure both ifedi and fowler get ample playing time "this season". but i'm not focused on ndsu per se', i'm just focused on the future in general...

The argument is completely cyclical and has been for the past five pages gentlemen. I've literally read the same talking points from the same pages from three or four different posters. If you actually believe your argument has any worth I figure you state it once and let it stand on its own merits. Of course I acknowledge not everyone thinks like me and everybody is passionate about the current topic at hand. I just thought I'd point that out. Just wait a few minutes. Oleschool will create a few new talking points for me here in a sec ... and take the time to refute them, one by one. Hahahahaha

I suspect we will see a FBS transfer or JUCO transfer QB in 2020 to keep the competitive pressure up as either Fowler or Ifedi will be the #1 QB spring of 2020.
