I would argue that the problem is not Alumni Giving per se, but rather the lack of infrastructure at A&T to facilitate and promote Alumni Giving.
I know this personally because me and Dooms sat in an office two years ago and gift wrapped a plan for recurring online donations to A&T.
Me and Dooms are still waiting to here back from anyone at A&T about moving forward with that plan. At the same time, I am still getting $18.91 deducted from my bank account each month, without even thinking about it -- so I know the plan works.

The prefect example is this: GHOE FundraiserI heard about it on this site. No email, no mailing, no robo call, it appears to be a word of mouth campaign!

wow, looks like the plan calls for a&t to be 30% "non-african american" within 4 years. according to the article, currently we are 21.5% "non-african american"...

Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group. I don’t see anything wrong with adding more PRs, Mexicans or Dominicans...it will make our nation better. Additionally there is more competition in NC for African American students compared to other states. 9 HBCUs in one state is a lot.

That was part of the original Pre-Eminence vision. yeah, i know it ain't new, i've read it in the bot minutes and dr. martin's preeminence plans previouisly. however, i didn't realize we were already at 21.5%. hey, i'm cool with a 30% non-african american enrollment by 2023. so i'm not complaining, just that i didn't realize we were already so close to those projected numbers...

What did you all think was going to happen? When you have a great product on the market it's going to attracted a lot people, especially when it's affordable locally.

As I mentioned earlier, there is always a ten year plan sitting out there. Some of the things on the list don't get done right away due to other more pressing priorities. Some of the things Dowdy and Fort had listed were started and completed by Renick, and his by Martin. Many of their visions were completed while in office, where as others were not, and that's true for all of A&T's Presidents and Chancellors, but they have moved us to where we are today. A Great University.
Our main flaw is not being able to consistently fund raise. And yes, that means that Alums are going to have to step up too.

I think lack of housing is a pressing problem.

Attracting students who do not identify as black is different from targeting non-black students. It could very well be considered a devaluing of our constituent base. But that's too far off topic.

Not sure if we all understand what you mean. Can you be a little more specific in defining difference between the two, attracting and targeting?

I, myself, am interested in seeing examples of the differences. Just curious!

I really want to know why you believe what you believe what you posted. Not trying to be confrontational!
