Do any of you remember two players some years ago that played nose tackle? They didn't play together, but both were under 6 feet tall, and were terrors on defense. I can't think of their names. I believe one had an alien movie nickname.

One of the finest defensive linemen ever to put on the blue and gold was 5-10 and 250 pound nose guard Akinyele Igunmuyiwanamed, formerly known as Ernest Riddick, played back in the mid 80's earning three consecutive (1984-86) first-team All-MEAC honors. In 1986 he was Sheraton Black College All-American and an NCAA Division I-AA All-American. Trues, go watch the tape on Ward and you will quickly see why we signed him. He is a beast of a run stopper, extremely quick off the ball, and what my daddy used to call " country cock strong" - plus coming out of Tarboro where all they do is put out top D-1 talent and win state championships every year. Also known as Dr. Doom...

Didn't think about that. He might be the next William Hollingsworth. Fullbacks are hard to come by.

I remind folks that Hollingsworth was primarily a high school nose guard when he first came here but was recruited to become a fullback. It ain't that hard to convert an undersized lineman into a fulltime blocking fullback as long as he has quick feet, can drive block and deliver a big blow.
