Aggies Lose Their First Conference Game NCATAGGIES.COM Sat, Feb 2
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 2, 2019) – North Carolina A&T has seen size before during the 2018-19 men’s basketball season. They just got a reminder Saturday evening at the Al Lawson Center. The Aggies struggled from the field from the opening tap and 7-foot Florida A&M did not help matters as the Rattlers handed the Aggies their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) loss of the season, 63-39. N.C. A&T (11-10, 6-1 MEAC) shot a season-low 29.6 percent from the floor and FAMU center Isaiah Martin ended the day with 12 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. The Rattlers (9-14, 6-2 MEAC) scored the first 14 points of the game for which the Aggies never really recovered. “Yes, they had size, but I wasn’t really concerned about that. We saw size before we entered the MEAC conference. We just stunk it up today,” said N.C. A&T coach Jay Joyner who saw his team lose on the road for the first time in conference play this season. “We don’t score 40 points it is a pretty bad day of offense.” For the rest of the story: www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=211788994

Hey I've seen us play a few times and each time our defense overshadowed a weak offense. Looks like that hurt us last night. We've got a couple of streak shooters but if they're off we're dead. We aren't great but we are better than we use to be. Hang in there and keep hope alive!

Winning on the road is always tough. The goal in a 16-game conference season is to win all 8 home games and split the road games. That puts you at 12-4. Last year we were 8-0 at home and 3-5 on the road. This year, we've already surpassed the road total at 4-1, including the big one at NCCU and the SCSU one that always dogs us. So that's progress if you're looking for a positive. The 3 remaining road games are at BCU (Monday), Howard and Norfolk St. All 3 present their challenges. But all 3 are winnable games if we shoot well. And if we win ONE of those 3... we're at 5-3 on the road in the MEAC. If we take care of home at 8-0, we'd be 13-3 in the MEAC and 18-12 overall. With FAMU out of the tourney, there are 5 first-round byes. We're still in a very good spot.

All of that sounds good, but I’m with MB69 on this one. Our offense has gone south. Harris is MIA. Copeland has been MIA. Our perimeter play, outside of Cam, has been shoddy. I like our team, but we ain’t head and shoulders above the rest of the conference to where we can clank it from the perimeter all night long and expect to win. Now granted, our past few games have been on the road, but we gotta do better.
