The University System of Georgia mandates online training for all of its employees......and the only reason I can speak on this is because I am literally in the middle of taking my annual Title IX training right now. I just assumed that all universities across the country did this every year.

New rule: if a student says she was raped, immediately contact campus police.
That should be a no-brainer.

Who and how to report and Assaults/Rape . This is one of the first things in most of the Freshman Orientation Seminar Syllabuses I have seen. You are to always contact the campus Police . To me that is the first thing Freshman both Female and Males should know . And you are right "That should be a No-Brainer " that is why this is so Vexing about this hold thing ! Being a Cheerleader can not be that important then your on Well Being to hold this in and only tell your coaching staff . My baby girl ran Track a Texas Womans college in Denton Tx. Her ex boyfriend who played football at North Texas threatened her and Jess was close friends with his sister . Jess went straight to the Campus police and filled out a complaint restraining order . the police at Texas Woman contacted the NTCPD and they served the restraining order and proved a copy to the student athlete and the Football HC and also the Denton PD . This is a Vexing scenario from start to finish

That quote was given to the Register by Media Relations. But that screenshot has the logo of the cheerleading squad. And the two names on that screenshot are Adjoa Botwe-Rankin and Wenalyn Bell Glenn, the two current coaches of the cheerleading squad. Why would the university release an official statement about these allegations ... through THE COACHES WHO ARE ACCUSED OF NOT REPORTING THE ALLEGATIONS?Please tell me I am not seeing this correctly.

Nope... The statement came from Media Relations and those coaches were probably given the statement from them. 🤷🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️

They keep digging the hole deeper . Some time it is best to say nothing at all and let the facts come out.

We have a young lady who says she was raped by a drum major or former drum major of our band the BGMM.
This young lady is a freshman and is new to the environment of college life. If she was actually raped she may have been so traumatized and hurt that she may have been scared to report the incident at first.
She may have been ashamed and confused as to why she did not report it instantly. Numerous rape victims go years before they tell someone about it.
When she did report it an investigation should have commenced immediately. If there was failure by anyone not proceeding with the proper protocol to investigate they should be fired.
I am going to sit back and let the powers to be figure this out. Ain't no need for me to be speculating and playing Perry Mason because I don't know all of the facts.

Excellent post.....and here is the point. There are protocols in place to handle this on EVERY college campus and they MUST be followed. Any suspected harassment, abuse, or sexual violence MUST be reported to the Title IX coordinator on campus. If you don't its a violation and you could be held accountable and the university could get sued. If you don't follow this LAW then you are asking for trouble. It doesn't matter what people think of the young lady who reported it. It doesn't matter what the scuttlebutt or rumors are on campus.....the ONLY thing that matters is that proper procedures are IMMEDIATELY followed so an investigation can begin and the parties involved can get access to the proper resources.
