The following link is for the player who was the 225th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. www.spotrac.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/devante-downs-25326/The rookie base salary for this year will bump up from $480K to $495K. So Bam would gross close to $600K by making the 53-man roster in 2019. That's a lot better than the $0 he would have made by returning to A&T for his graduate year. I agree, but he has to make the team. Another year to improve his technique and a draft not as deep in defensive players and his draft stock improves. Alot easier to make a team as a 4th, 5th rounder than a 7th. Good luck to him, hope this works out for the best. The draft stock thing is always dicey. A lot would have to go right given the losses we sustained on defense. As far as making the Buffal0 53-man roster.... he's got a really good shot because of: 1. Buffalo was 26th of 32 in sacks last year. 2. Buffalo hasn't picked up the 5th year option on Shaq Lawson, their 2016 1st round pick from Clemson. He'll be a FA after 2019. 3. Bam plays special teams (coverage and kick block). That's real important for low picks trying to make the roster. At worse, he'll pocket approx. $225K if he's on a practice squad. But he'll still be where he wants to be... in the NFL and around NFL coaching. It was a gamble worth taking... high risk, high reward.

You are forever the optimist Alot of times, it's better to be undrafted than drafted in the 7th. Let's let this play out before we can say the right decision was made.

Getting drafted 7th round allows the team that drafted you to take a long look before anyone else. A lot of DEs end up getting assigned to the practice squad, maybe playing 1 more year and then getting cut. That's the norm for 7th round DEs unfortunately. Then there are guys like Isaac Rochell who start practice squad and then ball out the next season. I wish him the latter. He can do it. Just based on where he started vs where he is, I think he can pull this off and stay in the NFL for some time. He's been overlooked before, which should help his drive.

He received a combine invite and he was drafted. He accomplished more than a lot of big-time power 5 players. Go Bam!

That's great, but that needs to be the beginning of his story, not the end.
Given his drive to succeed I believe he'll exceed expectations and pick up enough from the coaches to stick around a while.

And spending another year here isn't going to significantly improve his chances. Plus he stands the risk of getting hurt and missing this opportunity. Hey, he's on a team and has a shot at staying on that team if he performs well. And I hope he performs well enough to make the team.

We just saw a highly-regarded 1st-round QB in the 2018 draft just get sent packing to Miami in less than 1 calendar year......ain't nothing guaranteed for anybody in the NFL. Bam's gotta learn, compete his tail off and let the chips fall where they may. That dude has too much talent not to be utilized by the Bills...

2 – Bills will add competition anywhereThe addition of draft choices like Cody Ford, Devin Singletary and Darryl Johnson on day two and three of the draft created an overcrowded depth chart on the offensive line, running back and defensive end. It was an example of Beane and McDermott staying committed to the board in acquiring proper talent firsts and worrying about how all the pieces fit later. Beane pointed to the offensive tackle pool specifically, which now has Ty Nsekhe, LaAdrian Waddle and Cody Ford added to the mix since March. “I would say it's competition, and we're not saying that Cody's going to start,” said Beane. “I'm not saying he's running out with the ones that right tackle. Where he may start is with the twos. I'll let Sean, Brian Daboll and Bobby Johnson guys decide, but the thing about Ty is we do think he can play both, you know, I wouldn't put Cody at left. So I think versatility there with Dion (Dawkins) at left, Cody right and Ty can play either one and. And again, it'll be the best two tackles that we feel help us that'll start in September.” The case is much the same at defensive end where Darryl Johnson, who is coming off a 10.5-sack season at North Carolina A&T will scratch and claw to compete with the likes of Shaq Lawson, Trent Murphy, Jerry Hughes, Eli Harold and Eddie Yarbrough to earn a spot on the roster.www.buffalobills.com/news/5-things-we-learned-on-the-final-day-of-the-bills-2019-draft

9. A fitting nicknameDarryl Johnson, Buffalo’s first of two seventh-round draft picks this year, became just the third player from his alma mater to be drafted in three years. During his time playing college ball at North Carolina A&T, Johnson made quite a splash, making it all he more special that his nickname is “Bam.” A name that he uses on both his Twitter and Instagram accounts, “Bam” is excited to get to work for the Bills. www.buffalobills.com/news/10-fun-facts-about-the-bills-2019-draft-class
