In this case Houston wins 5 major metropolitan areas all within 5 hours of Houston ......Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans. In comparison major metros 5 hours from Atlanta.....Orlando maybe Birmingham is a metro.. No comparison the amount of people in a 5 hour radius of Houston is probably triple the amount of target people in a 5 hour radius of Atlanta. Bottom line if the Celebration Bowl was in Houston or New Orleans the attendance would be significantly better. Sure you would lose some MEAC folks but it's more SWAC people to market to plus there are more casual fans to draw from as well. Orlando is at least 6.25 hours from Atlanta. Birmingham (2.5 hours), Charlotte (3.75 hours) and Jacksonville (5 hours) are the closest large metro areas to The ATL.
But if we are going to work this in Atlanta, we've got to make some better inroads and develop better relationships with our fanbases there and get them to BUY-IN to what we are doing.I think they’re doing a good job already to be honest. Attendance is down across the board for games. As long as it’s over 30K, and drawing in the ratings it’s getting, ESPN won’t complain.

Now what killed the SWAC championship game was what Durham stated about the jump in pricing each year . It came down to some fans have to choose between SWAC championship game or the Celebration Bowl. That is why they made the move to the campuses . The problem I see with the CB staying in the ATL is not just the game pricing fans out but the lodging in Atlanta and the surrounding areas doing the same to fans that are traveling to the CB .

If we are going to select a location for the Celebration Bowl based on population then I recommend Los Angeles, Miami or New York. Hey there are millions of folks in those cities and at least 100,000 to 200,000 would show up for the game! We'll make a fortune off of ticket sales.

We are talking HBCU population / target market. More than Half the target market in LA have no knowledge of a HBCU. All I am saying is to fill up the stadium you need to draw some folks from in and around Atlanta I don’t see the SWAC folks coming if it’s PV or Southern probably see a couple thousand more fans.
As far as Houston or New Orleans they can attract more of the target market.
As example the Bayou Classic this year has close to 70K fans in attendance. The highest attended of any HBCU game because it’s and event much like a Bowl Game. To me the SWAC championship game as compared to the classic or Bowl Game apples and oranges to totally different animals.

Damn, did you all see the attendance of Aggies on our side of the field. The official attendance for 2018 was 31,000 and some change. 28,000 were Aggies.
I don't believe that Aggie fans will attend in cities such as Houston, New Orleans or Mars in this magnitude.
Atlanta is the prime and correct city for the CB in my opinion because I ain't flying to Houston or New Orleans for this game and I am definitely not catching a spaceship to Mars to see it.
Don't you think the sponsors of the CB did research on what city would be best for it. We always trying to change something and ain't got one dime to do it.
The trick is to get the SWAC to find away to get their fan base to show up.Granted the Aggies have done their part and I hope other MEAC teams do their part if we do not make the CB.
If the CB is moved to another city it ain't gone be as successful. We just have to continue both conferences to find ways to increase attendance.

No the trick is to attach to the fan base in the Atlanta area . This is not about just A&T and who ever it's about attracting more fans in the ATL area . Atlanta itself is not as attracted to SWAC schools . Most SWAC programs gravitate towards Houston ,Dallas and New Orleans because geographically it fits them better for travel . Also no one said anything about moving the BC . But if ESPN was to move the game ( which I hope they do not do ) New Orleans , Dallas , Houston would be and ideal fit .

I am trying not to look at the game as what is best for us but long term succes for the bowl game. A&T is single handily responsible for the success of the Celebration Bowl.
