Our LBs will be bigger next Fall especially with Fumbah filling the void. At times, our LBs on the field will be averaging 6' - 6'2 and weighing somewhere between 235 and 250 specially at the Mike and Will. Where we do give up size is where Wilder and Stuckey or Kittles will be playing. Because of that, we desperately need our DT's to command blockers to keep those guys freed up to make plays. A 1-Tech or 3-Tech space-eater would be icing on the cake for us. It is not always about size a lot of this was about technique and knowing how use your hands also being in the right place to make the play . In the game on the big runs the inside LB where not in the appropriate position to attack the runner. If the NT slides down right inside middle linebacker should have stepped right into the hole opposite but what was happening in the middle was the M lb followed the NG and left a big Gap both times look at the game and you will see that the M LB was not even blocked by and Alcorn lineman he was just out of position, that had nothing to do with size . Yep. Film study based on formation & tendency along with patience... wait a half-second for the play to develop, then trust your physical skills & technique (use hands with arms extended to shed the free blockers) to make the play coming downhill. Too many times, our LBs were already at the LOS in the scrum with no leverage on the read as the play went past them. That typed, this was a very valuable year for Kyin Howard. I believe the game will slow down for him this spring based on all the experience he got in 2018. He's going to be a good one.

The problem with having smaller inside linebackers is that you have such little room for error.
If you take a bad read and stumble into the scrum, you dont have the strength to free yourself from blockers and make the play.
K. Richardson and Deion Jones were getting ate up by the Alcorn linemen.

Chris Williams ain't a Rover... LB all day. You'd move Justin Philip back to Rover first. Williams looked like a carbon copy of Stuckey in his HS recruiting tape. Both of them played outside linebacker.

Charlotte. Think he was listed as a junior.
Probably was a walk-on but in my opinion he had the 3rd best cover skills on the team.

Williams is going to be a beast LB.

Truth be told Alcorns LB's we're not any bigger then ours that # 48 only 195lb .

Stuckey probably would have started from day one for any other team in this conference.

How is that possible regarding Cates Cates only played 2 games in 2015 before he got hurt. He'd qualify for a medical redshirt for his freshman year.

I think this conversation of the Rover/Sam/Free should be in this thread.
Kittles-Free Stuckey-Rover Wilder-SAM sounds great and all but my only thing is the cover ability of these guys esp the Free and Rover. If they can cover then this defense is definitely in the top tier FCS and top Non BCS conversation.
We just have to match that in the trenches esp the interior. Im not too concerned at the LB spot.
