That was pretty fast. I wonder what our total allotment of tickets was this year?

Just watched the highlights from the SWAC Championship game. Alcorn's offense is a legit threat. Their offense seems to be heavy RPO with speed at the QB & RB positions similar to Grambling last year. Their defense is legit as well. I didn't know they were ranked just 3 slots behind us at #5 in Total Defense for the FCS.
This game will not be a walk through as I once assumed. We will have to be discipline on both sides of the ball, which I hope we are with all of this time to prepare. But I foresee a dogfight in this one.

They have not faced a defense like our's this year. In my opinion, their offensive line is pretty average.
I think we will shut down their running game like we have against everybody else we've faced.
We are No. 1 in the country against the run for a reason.

I like Alcorn's defense. Very aggressive and opportunistic, similar to Grambling last year.
At the same time... there are no OLs in the SWAC with the talent and depth of our group, which really solidified over the last 4 games. Southern's OL group definitely wasn't at our level.
It's going to be a good game. But our ceiling is higher than Alcorn's. We just have to play to our ceiling.

They have a bunch of tall, rangy DBs who will try to match up against our Flight Club. Both of their starting corner backs were named first team All SWAC this season.

Not saying Southern's defense was at our level, however Alcorn made some big plays right up the gut on the RPO because southern was caught looking in the backfield instead up staying vertical on their assignments. If we force them to play on the outside I think we have them. But if they start to get past the DL between the tackles we might be in a shootout.

Southern didn't have Elijah Bell or Zachary Leslie to catch jump balls, either.. But I get your point. They like to play man and bring a safety into the box. Our guys going against our DBs isn't quite the same, but their ability to win 50-50 balls all season comes into play here. Lamar will have to run a bit on the RPOs as well to keep that defense honest. I like our chances for big plays.

One of the best thing about Bam-Bam playing so well is that he's pretty disciplined in his assignments and uses his reach & leverage to contain & make plays. Bam-Bam and E. Bell are essentially the two NFL Draft prospects we have on our roster right now. If they play like it, I like our chances.

Southern's QB held the ball too long. Raynard experience will keep their DL honest.

Yes, so much for HBCU's being a death nail to FBS jobs.
