Coach Washington and our Aggies are still in-the-thick-of-things for another berth in the Celebration Bowl. But first things first. We have to beat 'Da Buzzards in Durham. Should FAMU falter in Orlando, we should end up in Atlanta for the football version of The Aggie Invitational.
However, should the we win and the Rattlers wax Bethune-Cookman, we should have a pretty good shot at landing in the FCS Playoffs. We are currently ranked 12th in the FCS STATS Poll.
Here is one writer's view of our chances of landing a playoff berth:
"...First of all, my seeding report above assumed that no 5-loss team will make the field. Now, there have been rare instances in years past that 5-loss teams have gotten in, but I need the final week's data before I'd include one. Also, in this week's report, I'm assuming that North Carolina A&T finishes second in the MEAC and Florida A&M gets the title and Celebration Bowl slot, making the Aggies eligible for an FCS Playoff spot. And this year? The playoff committee needs all the 9-win teams with wins over an OVC champ and FBS team it can get. So the Aggies are firmly in my bracket this week..."

I am not sure if a new thread needs to be started but...we're in year 4 of the 6 year deal for the Celebration Bowl. When do negotiations generally begin for an extension? Will there even be an extension? Will the dwindling MEAC membership play a factor in negotiations? Will the conferences ask for (and receive) more money?

When taking a look at the bracket it appears Incarnate Word, Elon, and Northern Iowa benefitted from Aggies going to CB. It’s clear that one or more wouldn’t have made the field.

Man, they are so secretive that negotiations may be done already...and we may not hear anything definitive about it until after Game Six!

Just think what a difference a week makes. This time last week I was on my way to Central's stadium with a lot of uncertainty in my mind, such as;
1. Would A&T beat Central? 2. Would BCU beat FAMU? 3. Where would we end up in the FCS playoff picture? 4. Finally, I was wearing my A&T sweater and at my age I was hoping I didn't have to fight my way out of Central's stadium after the game.
All those questions have been answered; we won, FAMU lost, we're going to the Celebration Bowl and I didn't have to fight my way out of Central's stadium solast Saturday was a great day. And today I plan to watch games of which I have little no interest in except for Michigan/Ohio State. AGGIE PRIDE!!!

Most bowl games (especially hbcu's) don't have a long shelf life so it will be interesting to see if the CB get's renegotiated. The good news is that for every bowl that fails another is standing by ready to take it's place.

Although you're right about failing bowls, bowl opportunities for HBCU teams are limited. What was the bowl opportunity before the Celebration bowl? And the next bowl may not have the national TV coverage or dollar payout.

Final
E. Tennessee St 27 Jacksonville St 34
SE Missouri St, which also beat Jax St. in OVC play, won as well. Both are into the FCS Round of 16.
That Jax St. win is the gift that keeps on giving in the FCS landscape.
