The mics are not for the "band purest" or the "opposing band fans" or even for us...those mics are for the thousands of young band enthusiasts around the world that love the Blue & Gold Marching Machine. If you don't believe me check out last year's Youtube performance at Gardner Webb. It was viewed 342,000 times. Young kids today are accustomed to hearing their music on quality equipment and they don't care what mics you used. So we have a choice, record our performances on low quality equipment like other bands and sound like it was recorded on a cell phone or use professional level mics and sound like we are professional organization. By the way, I don't care what mics or equipment we use, haters are going to hate. Let's just accept that and get on with our lives. Hail half the HBCU band world still hates us for incorporating corp style marching into our performances. We can't start letting the haters start telling us what we should and shouldn't do. Not true. Band heads which include the kids like natural sound. The kids you try the recruit notice a big difference between the true sound and the edited sound. It is a big difference, very big difference. Marching band is not to be looked at like a singer who sounds like a studio performer. Ask the kids at your Homecoming that submitted application to NSU after Friday and Saturday performances. You all continue to make an excuse when people know T is trying to create a false sound. Marching bands cant lie during live performances. I’ve seen so much BS on YouTube about edited sounds, and it spreads from one hater to another, but very easy to ignore. And now here we are on here bringing that argument ... the best way to get accurate answers as to how great the band sounds, is to go see for yourself. Spreading fake news (LOL) doesn’t take away from the actual facts, that we are rated at the top or nearly the top constantly.

The legion performance was just better. The song selection was superior and clearer. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of the BGMM but this was not one of their best years. Time for something new

NSU's song selection was just better...coupled with the fact that they sounded a tad bit cleaner. Still refuse to give my aggies an L...lol

Marching bands cant lie during live performances. The BGMM has great sound during "live" performances and produce quality videos for the Youtube audience. Like everything else, there are people with different opinions about it. Some like it and some don't. Personally, I like what we are doing. Yeah, but its not authentic. Band heads and those students they recruit but lose to other bands know the difference. The average person is not watching the clips; those are band heads and high school students. You look at the enhanced video only to be let down by the live sound because the expectations are not met. Not saying they should reduced the product quality, but they need to reduce the level of enhancement.

The way I see it, how could we ever agree when you criticize for no known reason other than an assumption, there’s nothing constructive about that at all. We can agree or disagree with anyone, but the statements that I’ve seen on YouTube is what I’ve come to understand in today’s world as hating. When you use words like not authentic or not real in your description of the bands sound, when I’ve watched the band perform with a pure quality sound then yes you are just making noise. I have heard that the media team for the band does use better quality microphones for recording but the sound is not edited.

Everybody knows we lost the Homecoming band battle and halftime show to NSU this year. Even my wife said as much and she doesn't know anything about bands.
It happens. A&t has just got to learn from it and try to improve in the future.
