No idea. Might've been just members of the local media.

No idea. Might've been just members of the local media. The Chancellor was on channel 2 this evening, speaking about the future growth of the campus and the student body. He had drawings of the new engineering building (construction to start this year) and the renovation of the two buildings for the band. He also had a picture of the new student center. Goal is 14,000 students in several years. The school cleaned out the woody under growth (by the creek on Lindsay) at the apartments recently purchased on Sullivan. The removal of all that under growth will assist in student safety. They did some nice landscaping at the apartments. Area looks good.

Apparently I must have grown up because getting to 14-15k now actually makes me happy and supports backing off on growth. Looking at UMBC and how they have held steady around 12k, I want A&T to focus on growing research and graduate education. 14k with 11k undergrad and 3k graduate would be great sweet spot.
Expanding graduate education will have a direct correlation on research dollars and ensure we stay #3 in the UNC system for research dollars behind NCSU and UNC-CH (note we do this without any professional schools).

Agreed. But 16K-17K wouldn't hurt either.

Responsible and strategic growth as opposed to the wild Wild West approach.

I respect a strategic 20k. Before the new dorm was announced he told the student body he & the admin had made a mistake enrolling too many & that they were going to focus on getting campus prepared for such growth. I like a slow & steady approach and im looking forward to the future Martin is leading us into.

Folks, we have seen one of the most fantastic periods in A&T history. Hope everyone has enjoyed the ride. It can't last forever but it's been a fun ride.

Realistically. how much longer could we possibly have Martin? I'm sending Dr.Martin articles about President Harvey's successful tenure at Hampton in hopes that he will want to stick around for another 10 or 20 years. But seriously, I'm nervous about the day after Dr. Martin leaves. Fellas, we've seen something amazing since Dr. Martin took over...significant improvements in our academics, athletics, facilities, funding, student enrollment and brand. And all this during one of the most challenging periods for HBCUs. I just hope we have someone on the short list that can continue what Dr. Martin has accomplished.

I don't know him but I would think at some point in his life everything in his career became about leading up to the point when he could lead his alma mater. Now that he's got it, why leave? If I was him I'd work until I was no longer physically and/or mentally capable.

well, i hope this is his "dream job" and i hope he stays until he retires. this man has done "wonders" for our alma mater and the best news is that he's still not done yet! there's still some more outstanding buildings to be built on campus along with the renovation of memorial stadium. not to mention that aggie stadium is slated for yet another upgrade within the next 2 to 3 years.
wow! it don't get no better than that!!
