Also it does not look good to me if we averaging 15k to 17k.

since we don't have "seatback" seating (1 seat per attendee), i suppose our seating capacity is based on an "estimate". how they estimate it, i don't know. but there's no way of knowing exactly how many people can be seated on a bleacher row because everybody ain't the same size.
to use an extreme to make my point, if you have a bleacher row full of "skinny" people and another bleacher row full of "obese" people, the number of skinny people on a row will outnumber the number of obese people on a row. so i suppose they use some kind of formula to estimate seating capacity in a stadium like ours that has bleacher seating.
otherwise we must rely on the turnstile count to determine seating capacity, assuming that its accurate...

I think you are right oleschool, but how and why did that estimate change?
For years the estimate was around 22,500 and now it is listed as the exact number of 27,769.
There's gotta be a reason for that, right?

There's gotta be a reason for that, right? I already explained this in the original thread. 22,500 is football/track capacity. Capacity for when sports are actually on the field. The 27,769 is for things like concerts where fans can be in the stands AND on the field(like floor seating). If someone wanted to have a concert in Aggie Stadium and set the stage up in front of the Scoreboard. 27,769 capacity.

I think that number comes from when we had the asphalt track and we used to bring in those temporary bleachers ,and people would line up around the field . Maybe they use the 21,500 figure to appease the fire marshal ,but for GHOE the stands are packed ,the concourse is packed ,and we have people in the tailgate area that never even come inside the stadium . When that happens I believe we are close to 30,000 people inside the game zone .

I mean, except for Aggie Fest in the early 80s. And based on how hard it is to grow green grass in the offseason, do you honestly think they would have a major event on that field with temporary seats and flooring? I dont think floor seating at this stadium is really feasible.

Capacity: 17,500 (1981–1995) 21,500 (1995–2003) 27,769 (2003-present)
Record attendance: 34,769 (2001)
......................
It sounds like something happened in 2003 to change the official capacity.

They didn't have a Beyonce concert in NC State Football stadium until they actually had it last year.

But the official capacity was 21,500 in 2002. It increased to 27,769 in 2003.
They just decided one day that they could potentially have floor seating in the stadium after having a smaller official capacity for 8 straight years?
What caused them to make that determination?

They probably decided it looked better for Sponsorship to be at 27,000 instead of 22,000 you think? LOL

I guess here's the question I am really asking:
Did we retro-actively change the official stadium capacity, due in part, to our new deal with BB&T? Was that higher number part of the sales pitch?
The first time I have ever seen the number 27,769 used for our stadium capacity was immediately after the naming rights deal was announced.
