Yes...agreed Scott Hall was an experience. I lived in Scott B, 3rd floor, right where the bullets holes were when the Black Panthers had a shoot out with the National Guard. Historic...!

Man when I marched in the BGMM, 200 strong, we would march to and from practice everyday in between Scott and Cooper. The sound would be booming off those two buildings and folks would be lined up to see us come through. Folk hanging out of windows and on steps. Shorts and halter tops everywhere. Nothing like it! man, now you're giving me "flashbacks"!! i remember the band marching thru campus every day and most days, me and my homeboys would follow the majorettes all the way from the practice field to frazier hall, just getting an "eye full". man, as a freshman, i was "amazed"! it was like the "pied piper" up in aggieland, a whole bunch of us students would follow the band from one end of campus to the other. but the band would always seem to stop and perform between cooper hall and scott hall, folks hanging all out the windows of both dorms and on the cooper hall steps and everything. and the bgmm would put on a friggin' show! which also reminds me. does anybody remember the "block parties" back in the day? usually in the union parking lot or sometimes in the moore gym parking lot? i know pj remember those days. lol, back in those days if there was a party going on "anywhere", pj knew about it! man, those were the good ole days...

Wow! Those were the Day(s), I love marching thru Campus, and it would be late evening, because PRACTICE WAS LONG AND GRUELING! When I show up for Homecoming, and I ask if they still march thru CAMPUS! That is a No-No! THE HOURS OF 8-10 are considered "QUIET TIME"ON CAMPUS! "QUIET TIME" WTF ( at least the Week Of HOMECOMING), The BGMM" should be getting the CAMPUS CRUNK! UP! YEAH The GOOD OLE "DAYS" still proud of my ALMA MATER!

I think y'all could set that up Old School march on the Thursday of GHOE, after the Pep Rally. March from the clock tower through the new dorms, past the new student center. Or start from the Aggie Suites parking lot, march past Corbett and the Student center and then march on down to Aggie Stadium and the practice field with the Alumni Band members that arrive on Thursday.

I've been on BDV site for years and I just realized that there are a ton of old BGMM alums on this site. Why didn't y'all give me a shoutout?
By the way, I started an online BGMM newsletter called "The Loyalty Letter." It has updates on the band, the staff bios, fundraising events and insider news. If you would like to receive your very own copy, send me your email address at cfisher@thesalesinstitute.com The next edition comes out next Tuesday morning.

Hey for us small town country boys, Scott Hall was our world! Sam Sutson running a barber shop out of his dorm room, some guy smoking up the hall frying chicken on a hot plate and a guy on the third floor charging guys to watch porn movies off his dorm room wall...and that was just an average day. In my day, Big Jim would come through Scott yelling, "Hot dogs, three for a dollar!" at about 10 o'clock. Man, those were on time. Yeah Maxell...I remember those nights in Scott C too. Big Jim used to save all of us from starving on those late nights studying! It would be after 10 pm and you’d hear Big Jim’s voice ... “ hot dogs...two for 75, three for a dollar! “ Dem chili dogs would be right on time!

I hate to cut off all the old man reminiscing, but this little tidbit is what's the most interesting to me.
"The Blue and Gold Marching Machine soon might get a new home. Perkins said A&T is close to buying a 6-acre site on East Lindsay Street across from the football stadium. A&T leases the smaller of the two buildings on the site for the marching band. After the sale, A&T will renovate the second, larger building to give the band more space to practice and store its equipment."
With good planning we can now rework the entire "athletic space" for items we've always discussed. Like a turf practice field, indoor facility, saving the javelin grass but yet still putting turf inside the field, reconfiguring the back tailgate area, moving softball, etc. This gives us TONS of options.
Before we break ground on anything we need to get some architects over there to show all the possibilities for the future with the new space. Nothing should be off limits except for the football stadium itself. With that additional space and now owning War Memorial. There is no reason we should not have a full sports complex that includes some type of indoor facility big enough to practice football in and still have a new place for the band.
