Seems this thread has morphed into alternative helmet discussion........I'd be more than happy if we just have a non scratch helmet this year!!! Towards the end of the season and at Celebration Bowl last years helmets looked terrible! Just give me one non-scratch helmet and I am happy!

I may be wrong but I don’t think there is any such thing as a non-scratch helmet. A lot of these big schools and pro teams have helmets exclusively for practice and games and have members on their equipment staff who buff and polish the helmets everyday. The team did get some pads to go over top of the linemen’s helmets to wear in practice to keep them from scratching. As far as the alternate helmet/uniform talk I can’t say much. But the idea has been discussed...

It’s the finish on the helmet the shiny metallic ones scratch significantly less than the flat dull finish. Only reason I know this is because I helped coach a little league team few years back and we had a body shop spray paint the helmets and metallic finish was more $

"non-scratch helmet" is just a play on words and It's as TFTA stated . They are really called Scratch Resistant Football Helmets

I tell you what, if we do in fact unveil a new helmet design this year and the announcement is lackluster, I am going to be pissed.
Everybody is acting like this needs to be some top secret info. Like I stated before, we change our uniform design and even jersey font almost every season.
What is the big deal about an alternate helmet?
At the most, it is just a fun, marketing ploy to get people excited about A&T football.

But you are right I don't Google what's a lot of college football ( except for the playoffs in celebration Bowl ) reason being all my time is taking up coaching youth football and getting my track kids ready for the indoor season so I must agree with you on that !

This is how A&T needs to promote any new uniform/helmet changes in the future:

BTW: If A&T does in fact unveil a new helmet this season, I would like to see a stripe or stripe(s) down the middle again.
It's been a while since we had a stripe.
