This is an easy one...
It's all about recruiting! You wear what the kids like not what the fans prefer. Kids these days are into those things and believe it or not it does have an effect on your program/recruiting. Why do you think the kids like putting on the jerseys and gloves for photoshoots on their visits to different campuses. Ask Carolina if wearing the Jordan brand has helped their football program land recruits. The difference in quality between the Russell Gear that we had vs the Nike gear isn't even close.
Does anyone remember 2015 when nccu came out of the locker room after warm ups in brand metallic silver helmets..? I recall hearing members of our team talking about how nice they were before and after the game... This is also the same year we showed up to the Celebration bowl with players having raggedy paint on our helmets ( some hade matte blue look, others had shiny blue with gold specs)
My point is we need to do better if we want to continue to attract todays student athletes. Look Good Play Good! I want the guys to be comfortable and confident in what the compete in.
Maybe I’m just old school Aggie5, but from what I’ve seen teams that consistently recruit well have same things in common...and it’s not their helmet/uniform combos. Teams that have great facilities, good coaching, admin support, and winning records...tend to recruit well. I hate to hear our guys had lack luster uniforms or helmets in 2015...but that didn’t stop us from winning a share of the MEAC title and the celebration bowl. Carolina may look good, but they also get their asses kicked year end and year out by other FBS programs...Jordan brand hasn’t helped that a bit when it comes to that. Looking good is important, but if you need to look good in order to play well then, well imma just leave that one alone. All of that may be true but when all other things are equal, how you look on the field can be the deal maker to today's recruit.

Check out this ESPN article from 2013. Times have changed... www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/9519180/behind-scenes-college-football-latest-uniform-craze"There were plenty of questions," McCoy said, "but at the end of the day, I sat there and thought, 'This is where the game is going.' Your entire presentation is based around the helmet. It represents the school, but it was the most boring part of the uniform." "We're in a day and age right now where fashion in general has an impact on our society," Washington coach Steve Sarkisian said. "We wake up every morning, we try to decide what we're going to put on, and I think that's no different in football." About 50 college programs this fall, in an extension of the latest arms race to look good and attract recruits, will wear helmets that feature HGI's work in collaboration with the schools and their apparel providers

Not a bad job with very limited space. HU is making strides folks. They had a big time Junior day last weekend.

Coach London is building a foundation for years to come. They have a plan.

Coach London is building a foundation for years to come. They have a plan. If he stays that long. I don't see Howard as the place he wants to stay long term. I think he's doing all he can to make his accommodations as shiny as possible. At the end of the day, it's still Howard and they do not fund Athletics as much as other schools.

Ms Davis must have done that prior to taking the position of Big South Senior Associate Commissioner

To whom it may concern: navy blue and black are basically the same damn color.
Especially from a distance.
Please dont make dumb decisions.

BTW: It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a small focus group for stuff like this.
Get a couple of former players and maybe some current students involved.
Old folks generally make wack fashion choices. Just look at Dooms' wardrobe.

So are we unveiling a new helmet design this year or not?
Something should have leaked by now ...

I know many will say it does not make a difference but I hope since we are the ESPN kickoff game that our helmets will look as sharp as our uniforms.

If we indeed get something new, we need to unveil it like this:
