N.C. A&T renames and expands a doctoral program By John Newsom john.newsom@greensboro.comGREENSBORO — N.C. A&T has renamed and revamped its largest doctoral program in a STEM field. The university announced Monday that its revised program will be called the Ph.D. in Applied Science and Technology. A&T formerly awarded doctorates in energy and environmental sciences. It will retain the existing concentration of atmospheric, environmental and energy science. The applied science and technology program has 60 students — or roughly 15 percent of A&T graduate students seeking doctoral degrees — and is the university's largest doctoral program in the science, technology and engineering areas. The university says the new concentrations will allow it to expand the applied science and technology program.
