‘Black Panther’ on track to break Marvel records with projected $165M opening weekend
BY KATE FELDMAN
“Black Panther” can’t stop exceeding expectations. Ryan Coogler’s movie, starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett, is currently tracking to bring in $165 million during its opening weekend, according to the Hollywood Reporter. That would put “Black Panther” among the top five or six openings for a superhero movie, including “The Avengers” ($207.4 million), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($191.3 million), “Captain America: Civil War” ($179.1 million), “Iron Man 3” ($174.1 million), “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” ($166 million) and “The Dark Knight Rises” ($160.9 million). The movie has also sold more advance IMAX tickets than any other Marvel movie, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster told Variety. “Black Panther,” which currently boasts a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, premieres in theaters Friday. Just to support black excellence, I am thinking about taking the fam to see this at the Imax theater in High Point. Just need to make sure it is not Imax 3-D.
I hate 3-D.

Also considering getting tickets for the D-Box theater at the Four Seasons cinema, but those seats are hella expensive.
Kinda cool though because the seats move and vibrate during the action, kinda like at Disney World.

Looks like the D-box tickets are $19.48 for adults and $16.55 for kids.
With 4 people, that's over $70 just to sit down.
However, you dont get to see black super heroes in standalone movies every day.

‘Black Panther’ Sees More Imax Pre-Sales Than Any Other Marvel Film
By Ricardo Lopez
“Black Panther” is four days away from its wide release, and has already become the biggest seller of advance Imax tickets of any Marvel title, Imax Entertainment CEO Greg Foster told Variety on Monday. “We have a movie that has clearly captured the zeitgeist,” Foster said. “Pre-sales are the surest way to see how momentum is going: The momentum is gathering steam as opposed to slowing down.” With each passing week, box office estimates for the film’s opening weekend have climbed, reaching more than $150 million on Monday. The film could potentially have the largest February opening weekend ever, beating out “Deadpool,” which opened in February 2016 to a weekend box office total of $152 million. Foster declined to provide specific figures on pre-sales, but said advanced Imax tickets for the film do not appear to have peaked yet. Black Superheroes Matter: Why a 'Black Panther' Movie Is Revolutionary
By Tre Johnson October 17, 2017 Standing in the bay of a speeding Wakandan jet, a member of the African nation's special forces unit – the Dora Milaje – advises their king, T'Challa: "Don't freeze." Calmly, the leader replies "I never freeze." He's assured, regal, radiating a near subzero-temperature sense of cool. And then, donning the mask of the legendary superhero known as the Black Panther, he torpedo drops from the sky. A car explodes beneath him. He effortlessly somersaults through the air, lands sideways on a building in a neon-lit metropolis, races along the building's wall and sails right onto the speeding car. Then the Avenger skewers the driver's side tire and tosses it away like a bottle cap. Screen time: 10 seconds. How long have we been waiting to watch that moment become a reality? A lifetime. The Revolutionaryb Power Of Black Panther
Marvel’s new movie marks a major milestone
By JAMIL SMITHThe first movie I remember seeing in a theater had a black hero. Lando Calrissian, played by Billy Dee Williams, didn’t have any superpowers, but he ran his own city. That movie, the 1980 Star Wars sequel The Empire Strikes Back, introduced Calrissian as a complicated human being who still did the right thing. That’s one reason I grew up knowing I could be the same. If you are reading this and you are white, seeing people who look like you in mass media probably isn’t something you think about often. Every day, the culture reflects not only you but nearly infinite versions of you—executives, poets, garbage collectors, soldiers, nurses and so on. The world shows you that your possibilities are boundless. Now, after a brief respite, you again have a President. Those of us who are not white have considerably more trouble not only finding representation of ourselves in mass media and other arenas of public life, but also finding representation that indicates that our humanity is multifaceted. Relating to characters onscreen is necessary not merely for us to feel seen and understood, but also for others who need to see and understand us. When it doesn’t happen, we are all the poorer for it. Read more: time.com/black-panther/

BTW: Can you please tell your people that I dont wanna encounter any foolishness this weekend.
I just want to come out with my family and watch a 2 hour movie. And then go home.
I dont want to register to vote, listen to a spoken word performance, buy someone's mix CD, donate to a gofundme account, dance in the aisles or anything else.
All I want to do is watch the movie.
