Don't known if anyone else has noticed but it appears as if the Celebration Bowl is without a title sponsor this year. Most publications this year are basically providing free pub because I've read "Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl" multiple times, but if look at the logo the "Air Force Reserve" text is gone.
I know we are in year 3 of a 6 year agreement with ESPN, but should this be of any concern going forward. It has been well documented recently of ESPN's financial shortcomings with their recent 2 rounds of layoffs.
Had we ever wondered what could happen after these 6 years could we be in a no Celebration Bowl and no playoff boat. How smart would we look then as a conference.
If ESPN can't find a replacement title sponsor we are looking at a 6 year run and done scenario, which could be bad in the end.
Let's hope these TV numbers Saturday give ESPN something to go to the table with, for potential candidates.

As our fellow Aggie (John Grant) said in the podcast, when Trump cut their budget they had no choice but to pull out as the title sponsor. But I would expect them (or even us) to secure a new title sponsor before the 2018 game.
But you are right. There are serious questions that need to be addressed by ESPN and John Grant.

Two quick points...as long as their check doesn't bounce this year, I'm okay. Second point, if this game tomorrow gets the type of viewership I think it will get, there will be a title sponsor next year. This game has gotten some great press and I think that's going to boost the TV viewership. There are plenty of sponsors out there that want to get a piece of the African American dollar so I think a title sponsor will step forward. Now I can't say what's going to happen at ESPN. Their financial problems are bigger than this one game.

Being without a title sponsor is always of concern. There are other major sponsors currently on board such as McDonald's and Coke just not as the title sponsor. Maybe one of them will step up next year. As far as the future goes, I've always looked at this as a six year run with an objective to get there 3 or more times, then use the money and exposure to propel the program to the next phase in its development. Who knows what the athletics landscape and the television landscape will look like in 2020.

Five things to know about A&T vs. Grambling By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.com
ATLANTA — The third annual Celebration Bowl showcases its first two winners. No. 7 N.C. A&T (11-0) won the first Celebration Bowl in 2015, and No. 12 Grambling (11-1) is the defending champ. The MEAC champion Aggies and SWAC champ Tigers, who are both on 11-game winning streaks, will play at Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium at noon Saturday. It’s the start of college football’s bowl season, and the national broadcast on ABC has drawn more than 5 million viewers so far. And the matchup of champs from the two NCAA Division I leagues made up exclusively of HBCUs means a black college national championship is at stake. "I told our staff before the season started, 'We have chance to have our best football team.' And we still have a chance,” A&T coach Rod Broadway said. “All we need to do is win one more, and this will be the best team I've had in 15 years as a head coach. I can't say enough about these guys." For the rest of the story: www.greensboro.com/sports/recreation/five-things-to-know-about-a-t-vs-grambling/article_64fbe7a4-be75-500d-b99f-bceef3d2bf51.html

Grambling vs. N.C. A&T is Celebration Bowl many wanted
(STATS) – North Carolina A&T coach Rod Broadway points out to his players how the windshield in a car dwarfs the size of the rear-view mirror.
“Why is that?” Broadway said. “Because they don’t want you looking back too much because you might run into something.” The Aggies, the 11-0 champs of the MEAC, will have had four weeks to bask in the best regular season in program history when they take on SWAC champ Grambling State (11-1) in the third annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (noon ET, ABC). College Football: Hester, Aggies prepare for Celebration Bowl III By Mike London Published 12:00 am Friday, December 15, 2017
SALISBURY — Forty-seven sacks. That’s how many Grambling State University has accumulated this season. That FCS-leading number has given North Carolina A&T offensive coordinator Chip Hester cause for concern this week, as HBCU football’s two powerhouses inch closer to Saturday’s irresistible force vs. immovable object collision in Atlanta. Hester, a Salisbury resident who coached at Catawba College for 17 years, reports no sleepless nights because he has left tackle Brandon Parker on his side. Parker and his line mates allowed only 10 sacks in 11 games. If you haven’t heard of Parker yet, you will when the NFL draft rolls around next Spring. People remember Parker as a so-so basketball player at A.L. Brown High, but he’s developed into a monster in college, at least on the football field. He’s been named the top offensive lineman in HBCU football and he’s the first two-time Associated Press All-American in program history. He’s been the offensive lineman of the year in North Carolina A&T’s league, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, three straight seasons. He was the MEAC’s lineman of the week seven times as a senior. “Offensive lineman of the year is an award that’s usually reserved for a senior, so for Brandon to win it three straight years speaks volumes about him,” Hester said. Celebration Bowl: A perfect name, a growing game By Nicole Auerbach 7 hours ago
here’s a whiteboard in Pete Derzis’s ESPN office in Charlotte, and it’s there that he and his staff kicked around a bunch of different ideas for what name would accompany the premier HBCU postseason matchup, one of the earliest bowl games of the year. The word “celebration” went up and eventually got taken off the board. Then it went back up — and it stayed. “I look back on it and think we ended up really hitting on a name to celebrate the pageantry of the postseason and to celebrate the role of HBCUs in college football and as part of the history of college football,” said Derzis, now ESPN’s senior vice president of college sports programming and events. “It just kind of rolled off the tongue, and everybody started buying into it, and next thing you know we had a pretty good consensus in our room. And then we reached out to one of the commissioners. It’s worked really well.” For the rest of the story: theathletic.com/185300/2017/12/15/celebration-bowl-origin-espn/
