NC A&T plans to combine history, political science departments

GREENSBORO — N.C. A&T is planning to combine the history and political science departments and make criminal justice a standalone department as part of the university's departmental reorganization.

In a memo sent out Friday by Dr. Beryl McEwen, the school's interim provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, this realignment will take effect in the 2018 Spring term upon final review and approval by the board of trustees.

By combining the history and political science departments, McEwen stated in the memo that the faculties of both programs "would realize greater impact in instruction and scholarship abd be strengthened in preparing students for success in the global marketplace."

The #NCAT hashtag was in an uproar because someone put out fake news that the two departments were shutting down. Even in the information age stuff can be taken out of context.
