look, its well known on this message board that i often complain about the lack of facility enhancements at corbett center. however, i don't comment about the hiring or firing of coaches, nor do i attack the ad/chancellor. generally, i praise our coaches and our admins.
but that being stated, we don't live in north korea or iran where folk are forbidden to say negative things about their government. i mean, i can understand not tolerating "excessive" complaints about one's character or folk who find it appropriate to conduct "personal insults". yes i agree, those kinds of things should not be tolerated.
but this is america and this is a sports message board. i don't think its appropriate to restrict comments just because they may not speak favorably of our facilities or coaches, "if its true". i don't generally make negative comments regarding any of our coaches. but for those who do, they should not be restricted from doing so as long as their comments do not attack the character of the coach and is not generally "excessive" or "over the top". and i definitely don't believe in "publicly" calling for a coach's firing.
but even the best college coaches across the country at all levels get "criticized" by fans. i mean, it comes with the territory of being ncaa coaches and they should know that. roy williams and mike krzyzewski are both "hall of fame" coaches, yet they often get criticized by their fans or opposing fans. so its not unusual for coaches to get criticized, especially if they're losing a bunch of games. don't get me wrong, i'm not advocating folks to criticize our coaches. but i believe in their right to do so as long as its not "over the top".
sure, by all means let's try to keep bdv a very respectful message board, i get that. however, to only allow favorable comments but not allow unfavorable comments is not the way to go in my opinion. there must be "balance", we need to hear both sides. if all we hear are positive comments, then we'll likely be "misled" to believe everything is positive which sets folks up for a bitter disappointment when they find out the "truth".
it is not a good idea to only hear just one point of view...
