i really liked spicer's video but wasn't blown away by mayo's. however, i guess mayo is a 2018 prospect, so he still has time to develop more. i believe in "speed and quickness" kinda guys and spicer meets that description...

Nice recap of the NW Guilford/SW Guilford game from Tuesday night (same time as the Allen game). Barring a major upset, Spicer and Langley will face off again next Friday in a rubber match for the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference Championship. It should be a good one between two of the better 4A programs in the state. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Northwest Guilford boys defeat Southwest Guilford 75-72 By Joe Sirera joe.sirera@greensboro.com Feb 7, 2017 GREENSBORO — Northwest Guilford probably won’t win the Piedmont Triad 4-A Conference regular-season boys basketball title. But the Vikings began their pursuit of bigger goals tonight with a 75-72 win over front-runner Southwest Guilford. With one conference game to play, it would take an upset win by High Point Central over Southwest (8-1, 19-3) on Thursday and a win over East Forsyth by Northwest (7-2, 18-4) on Friday to create a first-place tie heading into the conference tournament. That postseason tournament and the state playoffs to follow are where the Vikings are headed with momentum. www.greensboro.com/sports/hsxtra/basketball/northwest-guilford-boys-defeat-southwest-guilford/article_e5c73e11-0ba0-529a-895b-4233533e783d.html

The thing I like about Mayo is his physicality and aggressiveness. He's got the body to seek out contact and carve space... and he uses it. And these vids are from 2016. So Mayo might be closer to 6'6" by 2018, which would likely put him at the 2/3. He'd be 2 years behind Pratt, which is good staggering. We're getting guys from Greensboro schools with "dog" mentality and solid prep coaching. It makes a difference in how coachable they are at the next level. It's why recruiting is so important. But it's still a crapshoot.

GENTLEMEN...Our problems could be answered IF our coach takes his behind up to Upper Marlboro and recruit players from both Dr. Henry Wise High School and Frederick Douglass High School. Both teams played for the Prince Georges County Championship...Wise has a team full of players that are ready for the next level...PERIOD. They are big, stout and strong and they can flat out play. Douglass has talent as well but, they have to get stronger for the next level. One of Douglass' players has already committed to Howard. I'm not telling you what I heard, I'm telling you what I saw. Reminding me of one of Dudley's older teams when they had Will Graves and those. Check it out.

I'm sorry but, the Mayo kid is not the answer in 2018. We need legit bigs and long 6'6 wings that can get it done on the perimeter. and like you said there's no in game adjustments being made and Joyner is not the answer.
