Maybe it was the system at Johnson County that made him have to score more ! Your right Sam is not a PG and Wright as you say"kid wright has “pass first” point guard skills" but what worries me is will he use them, after being the focal point scorer for so long ?

again with interchangeable parts, dribble drive, etc, the games becomes easier if you have skilled players. Both can score, and both can play; that's a plus.

Saab, I think the short answer is "trust". A scoring PG will get the ball out of his hands when he trusts that his teammates are just as good of a scoring option as he is. Based on the Johnson Co. clips... Wright was clearly numero uno as a scoring threat. How fast that trust gets established will determine how well he distributes the ball, IMO. I will say this. Wright's end-to-end speed is something we haven't had in a while. That excites me because we've had minimal transition game in the last 7+ years because of not having a PG who could push the rock. Unfortunately Wright didn't have any wings, so you don't see him dishing the ball a lot. That will change a bit with Watson joining us and Whitaker continuing to mature. McGowens hopefully will be fun to watch in transition. And Sam will be able to hang out outside the arc. This has some potential, folks.

Good bio article on other point guard that Joyner signed earlier this week - Dalen Dotson, 5-11, Movarian Prep by way of Charlotte Providence. High School Basketball, Player Profiles 5’11 2016 Guard Dalen Dotson Commits to North Carolina A&T
Posted by Deionte Watts on May 15, 2016\ After a long and enduring journey Dalen Dotson, has committed to play at The University of North Carolina A&T and Coach Jay Joyner. Dotson, a 5’11 exceptionally talented and poised point guard played a post grad season at Morvarian Prep after leading Providence High School a season ago. Dalen Dotson is a point guard who excels in transition and is a proven leader. Dotson plays with a great knowledge for the game and a command of pace and flow. His ball handling abilities, end to end speed, and unselfishness in combination with his passing skills allow for Dalen to control the game as a Floor General. NCAT is a great school academically . Also, my relationship with the head coach was a deciding factor. With this upcoming season, being his second year as Head coach, he’s looking to turn the program around. He believes and pulls for the underdogs, and I think In an underdog myself. He believes in a fast pace pick and roll offense while pressuring the ball on defense, and that’s the style of play I strive under most.”

Looks like we add another PG Aren Admead transfer from Wagner. He is from Deer Park, NY and was Long Island player of the year in high school and all state. He played at Wagner 2014-2015 and either sat out or redshirted last year. I think he may be eligible this year.....

Reading about his play at Wagner, he's a long range shooter who can create his own space, and was a pretty good one at that coming off the bench as their sixth man. His transfer was mostly about lack of playing time and wanting a change of environment from researching him. Wagner College loses two role players in rising tide of college hoop transfers
By Cormac Gordon | gordonc@siadvance.com on April 29, 2016 at 9:42 AM, updated April 29, 2016 at 10:13 AM There are some holes to fill on the Wagner College roster. More than expected, in fact. That's so after events of the last few days, when backup guard Aaren Edmead advised Seahawks coach Bashir Mason that he intends to transfer. Edmead, a 5-10 sophomore who averaged 4.9 points per game as the third guard in the Wagner rotation has been in contact with MEAC member North Carolina A&T. The thing that stands out...played on a winning program...and shot 83.7% from the FT line. We all know how important that is for a PG. We may be small...but our talent level has improved. The question is whether we can be effective enough on interior defense to be an upper tier MEAC team. But the talent is there. Sent from my LGLS991 using proboards

Ok thanks .....Edmead also had several offers coming out of high school...You are correct we are upgrading our pool of talent. In the article about Dotson the previous commit he stated Coach Joyner wants to pressure the ball and push the pace so looks like Joyner is recruiting players that can do that.

Wow...He gots some hops. To flush it with two hands is impressive true story, i’m about 5’10” and i was “easily” flushing dunks with two hands in high school. back then, i could dunk “flat footed” with one hand standing directly one step from underneath the basket. but then again, i was an all state long jump and triple jump trackster in high school. but heck, to be honest, i’ve seen some kids nowadays who are my height (or even shorter) who can throw down friggin’ alley oops with 2 hands and i’ve seen some of them “double clutch” it which i could never do. i mean, these kids nowadays can flat out jump outta the gym! some of these kids would even put “spud webb” to shame...
