I think in the system in which we live in now as a conference, we are almost resigned to pull for the SWAC representative in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge because we have no MEAC Championship game. We should have kept Elon on the schedule. We'll just have to beat the MEAC teams and then we don't have to worry about the tie breaker. Also if we could upset Kent St we get additional points. i'm too much of a "loyalist" to pull for the swac, even if a swac win might help us down the road if we're in a tiebreaker situation. but sorry, pulling for the swac over an meac team is like pulling against "family". can't do it. unless its a swac team playing against nccu. but to be honest, even as much as i hate central, pulling for a swac team over central would still be hard for me to do...

We know where we stand. I'd rather go undefeated in the conference than have it settled on a tiebreaker. That's the next logical step in testing the strength of the program. If we still have to rely on somebody else beating a conference team then we still are not as strong a program as we would like to believe.
A championship is a championship, but how much sweeter is it when you can say you didn't lose to any conference team?

that's where i'm at. the team still has some "unfinished business" to take care of. i don't wanna share a championship and i don't wanna lose to central. best way to fix that is to beat every meac team on our schedule which "excludes" ssu and morgan since they're not on our schedule. but i've got money that neither ssu or morgan will go undefeated. so i'm very confident that if we go undefeated in the meac, we will win the meac championship "outright"...

Sent from my SM-N910P using proboards Elon... unless there's a promotional deal involved where we're packing out Aggie Stadium... no thanks. If we net $300-400K from the guarantee games, it's worth it not to play Elon. And unless they've made a total makeover this offseason, I really like our chances against Kent St with the WR play I saw in the spring game.

After this season, SWAC schools will only be required to play seven (7) conference opponents [they currently play 9]. So, we may see an increase of MEAC vs. SWAC games in the not too distant future. Time will tell....

Take away that Elon win and we wouldn't have gone to the Celebration Bowl. I'd rather schedule them than 2 fbs games.

Y'all are missing the big picture in this scenario......If the MEAC and SWAC are busy playing each other all season around, it will cheapen the novelty of the Celebration Bowl. 35,000+ folks ain't going to Atlanta to see this game if they've seen a semblance of this game already played multiple times during the regular season.
The Celebration Bowl has to keep its intrigue if it wants to stay around for the long run. There are plenty of OTHER TEAMS SWAC and MEAC teams can schedule to fill its OOC ledger.
I love a good steak, but if you feed it to me 4-5 times a week, by day 7, the last thing I want to see on my plate is a steak. This is what we'd be looking at if we adopt an MEAC/SWAC game approach during the regular season. The Celebration Bowl will be much less of a "must-see" event when it rolls around in December....

A championship is a championship, but how much sweeter is it when you can say you didn't lose to any conference team? I get it but, all that sounds good in theory. The fact of the matter is, with no championship game the probability of teams in the MEAC finishing in a tie is pretty reasonable. I'd love to win the conference outright but, all it takes is one bad day at the office and you are in a tie. Just food for thought...

Not a problem, I can pull for Alcorn against any MEAC school but NCAT

I'm talking about this year, where our team is more mature and the extra FBS game hedges us against the possibility of not making it back to the CB. The real, though...Kent St. is one of the best possible FBS matchups we could have drawn. With the WR play I saw on Saturday...this is a game that we can realistically win. BCU did it a couple of years back against Florida Int'l. I like the facr that we're going for it. We can't grow by playing it safe. Sent from my LGLS991 using proboards

How about this? If you are ineligible for the post season, you automatically play in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge.
