Two commits from WV. Smart move to go into WV for recruits. We have zero in-state FCS competition in that state. If you're an FCS level player in WV, you either play d-2, walk-on at WVU or Marshall, or go out-of-state.
Since most folk frown at the talent level of the state we can probably get some dudes nobody is looking at from there.

Derrek Williams II, db = North Forsyth High School has given a verbal. Looks like we beat out JC Smith for his services. I dont know how i feel about competing with a D2 school for recruits but we will see

We've always done it. Even under Hayes.

I see the coaches are concentrating on the skill players this year. Playing against the spread offenses of Hampton and NC Central the extra DBs are needed.

JC Smith is a D-2 program and also there is not that much of a step between FCS programs and your upper level D-2 programs anyway So it's know big Deal

That's a pretty blanket statement. There are a myriad number of reasons to lose a kid to ANY school. We are the largest hbcu. If you want to go to a small school that immediately crosses us off the list.
If you want to attend a rural school, that crosses us off the list.
If you want to attend a school in a major metropolitan city... You get the point.
If you're choosing a school based only on football, then maybe we shouldn't lose a kid to a ciaa school unless you just really would rather try to make the d2 playoffs than the celebration bowl. But I really hope our program is beyond the point that we're chasing after kids that are choosing schools based only on football.

Ashton Toliver can play TOMORROW at DB. The kid is a true ball hawk, and he seems excited to come to A&T as well, it's all over his Twitter. The CB may have had a big impact on our brand.

I like what I'm seeing so far but I hope we bring in some beef on the offensive and defensive line this year.

This class will be more about quality, especially at the skill positions, and less about numbers.

Hey Cohen probably was on some DII recruiting board before we stepped up and gave him a scholarship. Talent is talent, no matter where you find it. Who knows the kid we got from JC Smith may have had a Smith connection through his family or coaches. If our coaching staff thinks this kid can play for us, I don't care if The Sisters of the Poor University was recruiting him.
