Greensboro To Honor HBCU Champs Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information N.C. A&T head coach Rod Broadway will speak at a city event to celebrate the Aggies HBCU national title. Photo by Kevin L. Dorsey GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T Aggies, the Historically Black College and Universities National Champions, have been invited by Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughn and members of the City Council to celebrate winning the inaugural Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl on Tuesday, January 19 at 4:30 p.m., at the Governmental Plaza, 110 S. Green St. The celebration will feature Mayor Vaughan, N.C. A&T Chancellor Harold Martin, Aggies head coach Rod Broadway and selected Aggie players will speak. There will also be a performance by the Blue & Gold Marching Machine. Residents, fans, and downtown employees can view the celebratory rally on the Plaza with the team. Parking for the rally is available in the Greene Street Parking Deck, located across the street from Governmental Plaza. The Aggies finished the season 10-2 thanks to its historic 41-34 win over Alcorn State in the Celebration Bowl on Dec. 19, 2015. It marked only the third time in school history that the Aggies achieved double-digit wins. It was also the Aggies third HBCU national title and their first since 1999. The Aggies also won a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship for the second straight season. Please come out for this historic occasion as we recognize the tremendous work of our student athletes.

Question? Was anything ever done to honor the ladies bowling team winning a national championship? If not, then they should be part of this celebration.

this kind of "local" publicity should boost "attendance" somewhat next season, especially since tarik cohen is now a "national star". it may even generate some opportunities for some corporate sponsorships given this "positive publicity". wow, this is how you get the "local community" to buy into your program.
i see nothing but "good" coming out of this event...

I can't emphasize enough that the sports information department, sports marketing (ticket office), and ALL other components need to hype next years team and promote Tarik Cohen for the 2016 Walter Payton Award, etc., etc. NO LATER than this summer. A web page of Cohen's accomplishments with stats, videos, pictures should be included highlighting why he should get the award next year. ALL of this hype is good for the team and is good for the entire university.
The Black Panthers use to say: "Seize the time". NOW is our time IF we properly capitalize. If we do.....like saabman has said, "the rest is gravy". Trust and believe!!

I agree that local publicity is always good. But to get the "local community" to buy into our program, we need to start now promoting next season. Hey, I'd announce at this event that in honor of the National Championship" and our 125 Anniversary, we would sell 125 season books for $125! This promotion would last until March 9th, 2016...our 125th anniversary. First come, first served! May not sell many but it's the buzz I'm after!

Send the idea to Hilton or Holloway.
