i think the marching 100 ordeal damaged famu more than imaginable. it gave famu a “national” black eye! i think famu took a bigger “pr hit” from the marching 100 scandal than anything else they’ve done, including the “ill-advised” move to fbs. marching 100 news was covered on every major news network in the country! very, very damaging to famu because it reflected heavily on famu’s administration for tolerating that kind of conduct... I agree 100% , lets be honest their band was the shining star for the school , more so than athletics . And it just wasn't the the administration that tolerated the band's foolishness , the students and alumni all played a major part . I remember back in 2007 when we went down there and the "hundred" and our football team got into a fight on the side lines as the band was coming off the field . Our team had to go back into the locker with a police escort . I vividly recall an alumni from FAMU saying on the MFZ site that the next time we come down our team should just stay in the locker room until they tell us when to come out . That statement spoke volumes to me in that they cared more about their band than the football game itself . Everybody down there knew what was going on with the hazing but were willing to accept it because of the band's "star power ".

and Ayantee's losing streak went to what as a result of that loss? Probably around 20 games lost in a row.

Alcorn State is building the largest HBCU video board at its stadium, presumably with its Celebration Bowl earnings. Click on the link below to see a picture and to get more details. www.alcornsports.com/

Maybe we will use some of our Celebration Bowl money on artificial turf or at least some grass seed for the field.

SC State did it at Bulldog Stadium (and the President's Residence lawn) up until they put in their artificial turf.

Mumford Stadium uses a natural crown drainage system (if I'm not wrong) A&T drainage system is different completely and may need a lot more work That is why I said that it is to late for the installation of field Turf 8-)Also with it being Track season and all it is to much activity a round the field at this point and time of the year

Can Field Turf be installed in the winter or does the temperature need to be moderate?

I remember them coming in with bulldozers and everything several years ago and placing big drainage pipes underneath the field . Now there may conflicts with all of the track events we have ,but they would not have to completely redo the drainage system .

MEAC championships just ended. A&T normally host the USATF junior olympic qualifiers for the State or the Region in early July. The USATF finals have been held there twice and they are on August 1st. So it would be tough to redo the field without losing that revenue. I'm sure that has always been a factor when deciding. They would have to start immediately after the last home game and try to get it done in the winter which is always tough.
