Very good team performance, minimal mistakes, sound running game, kicking game on point, and very solid defense. 1) A&T had 295 yards (171 rushing, 135 passing)of total offense to NSU's 167(38 rushing, 129 passing). 2) Cohen had 152 yards on 36 carries, ran for a TD threw for another, Raynard was 10-23 for 118 and a TD; NSU - Hankerson was 11-28 for 129. The only problem I see is running The Kid 36 times !! We should have replaced him and gave the other Back's some work because we or going to need them against BCU. Also the TE free all day only one pass that I could see all game. Raynard needs to not stare down his receivers so much! you can tell where he's going with the ball because he follows one receiver. unlike the first half when he would look the defensive back off and throw to the open receiver in his first series when he was spreading the ball around. other than that they played an excellent game the D-line / LB's played outstanding, secondary had me kind of nervous there for a minute, there's still room for improvement!

Saabman, I agree. Raynard locks in on one receiver and does not scan the field for other receivers.
We had open receivers a lot but he seemed not to see them. He is young and will correct this with game experience and good coaching.
Yes, Cohen carries the ball way too much. They were trying to take his head off today.
He needs a backup to relieve him. If not, he may not make it to the end.

My Congrats to Coach Broadway as well. Some more good news. FAMU giving NCCU some momentary hell down in Florida, 17-17 halftime. Saturdays' game is shaping up pretty much as the anticipated showdown of the prime mid season contenders.
I know homecoming is in two weeks but I just hope my fellow Aggie Fans will show up in big numbers with plenty of lung power. Ya'll do realize just how important this next game is because there's very little in BCU's way to keep them from punching their ticket to Atlanta if they get by us.
This next game is HUGE!!!!!

One observation from today was defensively how on 3rd and longs it seems as if we are imploring a 3-3-5 defense, with mcrae playing centerfield. It made me nervous the first couple of times i saw it but i guess with down and distance it encouraged the offense to take the first available short pass and the defense make a sure tackle short of the line to gain. On one of those downs we even produced a sack.
I also saw a clear change in playcalling when raynard entered the game. On quick's two possesions we went run, run, pass and run, run, pass both were three and outs with the latter resulting in an INT. Very unimaginative. Raynard comes in and we go play action on 1st down for a big completion.
All in all great win. Next weeks winner will have the inside track to the MEAC title.

AGGIE PRIDE I had a problem with that 3-3-5 D ! Never have liked that D because there is not Enough pressure being put on the QB. A good QB will pick that Defense a part, it just gives the Opposing QB too much time ! I can live with the 4-2-5 because you but pressure on the QB and can cover the run and pass ! every time we went to that 3-3-5 they through the long ball on us . Also in that 3-3-5 a 2 safety shall is a lot safer then that Single Safety look. But it worked and I'm grateful Lol The Kid need's to have a Back up to emerge not later but ASAP ! He took a beating to day, although he ran good but he was not himself later on in the game where he Usually takes over and Dominates (maybe it is just me ). 36 carries for a back his size against a 8 man front week in and out is just and injury waiting to happen ! Get this young man a Good back up or find away to get him in space with a Screen or something away from the Head hunters. That dude KING LB was all on the Kid today even to the point of hitting him when he didn't have the ball and they were not Love Taps either.

You had to be at the game......the 3-3-5 defense was extremely effective. They weren't doing it when it was 3rd and a few yards. They were doing it when it was 3rd and 15. Norfolk had absolutely no running game. The only way they were gonna get those 1st downs was with the pass. That defense negated anything big and kept everything in front of them. It may not have looked good on a webcast, but at field view from the 50-yard line, that defense blanketed everything Norfolk could do to pick up a first down.
Don't be surprised if you see that defense again in the forthcoming weeks when there is a 3rd and very long. I don't see many opposing MEAC QBs being able to convert it.

To me, this was the best defensive game we have played in a long time.
How many sacks did we have?

Jeremy Taylor had at least 2 sacks blitzing as a LB...he was the 4th rusher a good bit of the time. The beauty of the 3-3-5 (similar to a 3-4) is that the QB/center will have a hard time figuring out pre-snap where the extra blitzer is coming from. I liked Taylor and freshman Julius Reynolds as blitzers. Reynolds also had a sack in the 1st quarter. Sent from my EVO using proboards

Another shout-out on defense to #95, Julian McKnight, the red-shirt freshman DT from GA. He may not show up in the stat line, but he was a difference-maker today when he was in.
Mike Neal and James Morris have grown into solid players for us. Marquis Ragland has become a big-time playmaker for us. But none of those guys have the size/strength/speed combo that McKnight possesses. McKnight was out for the first 3 games due to injury. He's listed as 6'3", 271 lbs (same as Ragland), but he's looking 285ish on the field. I saw McKnight effectively eating up double-teams, which was stalling the NSU run game when he was in the game. He got a sack today as well. McKnight also had a TFL against Hampton last week.
McKnight was an all-state player in GA and played in the GA/FL All-Star game in high school. IMO, he has the potential to have the same impact that Javon Hargrave has for SCSU. It's this recruiting of linemen like McKnight, Marcus Pettiford (started at RT as a true freshman), Shawn Best and Darriel Mack that will determine the direction of our program.

I think Broadway saw enough of that in quick today. I disagree on the Quick statement . What I feel that Broadway saw was a situation that facilitated more of a passing quarterback then a runner. Norfolk played us strictly for the run and by changing up with Raynard, it through their whole game plan out of sync. The two QB system can work if applied properly and today was one of those days.
