If you have a good passing QB you can pick our secondary apart. UNC and Hampton was very successful. I think we will do well stopping the run I am concern about there QB passing given what happen last week. Even Broadway said he had concern about this QB passing well on us.

If you don't get pressure, anyone can pass on you. We don't have Richard Sherman and Dieon Sanders at the corners. Geez!

just like one reporter asked coach broadway, i'm still wondering why we were so successful shutting hampton's offense down during hampton's last two possessions of the game, but couldn't stop them all game long until then? when it mattered the most, our defense actually shut hampton down in "crutch time". why couldn't we do that all game long?

A&T's D-line ,although effective against the run applies very little pressure on opposing quarterbacks when they began to pass. I see little push up the middle from the D-Line which is required to properly collapse and pocket and keeping the quarterback from stepping up. this has to change against Norfolk! we must get more pressure from the defensive line!

If you notice ever since Broadway took over, our D-Line philosophy seems to be stop the run and keep the opposing O-line from reaching our linebackers so they can make plays. It's a very conservative disaplined approach that avoids risk. Each D-lineman has gap assignments, so if they aren't disapline huge holes give way to the run. I don't foresee anything to change this week.
Broadway jokingly in the interview states he's very superstitious and doesn't like to change things much if they are making the team successful. It explains a lot why Quick still is the starter each week, and why our defense plays conservatively.

I can understand your points on Broadways D-line philosophy but even in a Gap assignment system you still have to have that Push in the middle which counter acts the set up for a play actions passing type of system ! If we A&T's D-line can control there O-line and put continual presser on the QB and Rb's, that not only help,s the play of the Lb's and Db's.

When everyone was saying before the season how or D-Line was going to dominate, I was hoping to see change this year from in years past. I too love a D-Line that can do both, but I unfortunately haven't seen it. I just know that they get off the ball and control the line of scrimmage well.

Yes true but that is not good enough, Controlling the line of scrimmage is all good in a Ben but don't break style of play but it would be a lot better if the defensive line started to dominate! Which I hope we will start to see in their play in future games, they are a talented group that just has fine tone there play !!

You may get your wish this week with Norfolk's O-line having missing links.

Good question. I think we have lapses in our secondary. it is not as tight as in the previous years

If you want to play a high pressure defense in football, it starts with the defensive line. That's why we prefer to not blitz and on the flip-side of that when and if you see us blitzing, chances are we are not getting pressure and we are getting burned in the secondary. I would like to see us blitz more often rather than wait on the front four all the time. That tends to catch offenses off guard.
