That wasn't it. It was those damn fireworks that that Kappa celebrating his 10 year thought was a fantastic idea to launch. But the VC of Student Affairs may have overreached here. This is about to be like Howard charging for their Yardfest. Certain things while needing altering, have to be touched with a certain surgical precision and insight from the Greek Alumni. But, that's hard to do when you only have just the Sigmas and Zetas on the yard due to paperwork issues. Also, isn't it strangely convenient that the Sigma/Zeta plot is pretty much in the Murphy Hall Parking Lot where the stage will be? Why not move everything down to the Holland bowl? Speaking of which, how many organizations will participate

Honestly if you think about it for a second and I know MANY folk are upset BUT there really isn't THAT much of a change as far as the actual printed "rules" are concerned. Most of what's listed has always been in place (I'm mainly looking at #12) IF it is asked and printed then you will ALWAYS get the answer given, any other answer wouldn't be smart on the school's part (just my opinion) (In other words utilize your cups and/or whatever drinking utensils) Seems to be more location shift than anything else (Cooking and music) as people are still allowed on the plots just that there will be an actual sound stage and folk will all be cooking in one designated area vs on the various plots. I agree but you have to have everyone on board with the decisions. But that is hard to do when your chapter is inactive or suspended.

LOL...have everyone on board with the decision, yes if it was democracy. Some of fail to understand that the officials have to answer to the state of North Carolina. Remember, the frats and sororities are not permanent fixtures. They are guest of the university!

Let me say up front, I don't go to the plots after the game so this new ruling doesn't impact me. And generally I understand and accept "new rules" when the A&T Administration makes them but...here's an observation...A&T's Administration needs to work on it's delivery of any "new rules!" I'm not debating that these new rules are unnecessary, unfair or irrational. I am saying that this Administration needs some work on how to deliver "new rules!" Knowing how thoroughly Dr. Martin and his administrative staff works, I'm sure they have researched the hell out of this and have decided that the University has some great liability risks if someone is injured or killed during these events at the plots. Plus it would bring very bad press. But rather than doing all of this research and just giving the alumni the "new rules" how about first giving everyone involved all of the ugly details about what "could happen" and why you made this decision. Once again, I support the Administration's decision but they need to understand that "adults" like to hear the reason behind rule changes. I realize some A&T Alumni will still be upset with the changes but if they give all the facts and details about why they made the decision, then other Aggies will help defend and support the decision. Now I also know that the Administration, not the Alumni run the University but if you want to keep your alumni base somewhat supportive, please give them more details about why you are making "new rules."

1969,
As you stated, you don't go to the plot area. The administration, as well as other alumni knew and let it be known that it was a problem last year after homecoming and that action needed to be taken. The ones that are complaining are the ones that only come back for the parties. They forget that after it's over, somebody has to clean up their mess. Before you can just let something be known, you have to do your due diligence. What I mean by this, you have to research things through your legal team and get things cleared before you can just act. If alumni don't want to support the university for safety actions being taken then that says a lot about ones true intent or dedication and commitment to the university.
In my opinion, "FAIR WEATHER AGGIES"

In my opinion, "FAIR WEATHER AGGIES" I agree 100%! I fully support this decision. I've seen the pictures of the crowds around the plots and I've often thought about all the bad press we would get if something bad happened...a fight or a shooting. Where I think the Administration misses an opportunity is not "educating" alums about why they took these steps. By the way, they don't have to tell anyone (alumni, students, parents, or the Greensboro public) why they are making changes. But if they want to gain more support of their decisions, share some of the details about why the decision was made. Give us "rational" Aggies more facts so we can help make the case for the Administration against the "crazy" Aggies!

it was as bad as i thought it would be. one source of dj music sucks because everybody doesn’t listen to the same kind of music. you have “old school” aggies, “young school” aggies, and “in between” aggies all at the same time on the plots after the homecoming game. but the dj they hired only played “young school” music which sounded like music from mars to me! just a bunch of “noise”, nothing for old school aggies to listen to, nor “understand”. it was horrible!
so we old school aggies were forced to listen to some “new aged” crap that none of us could even understand. no melody, no harmony, nothing anyone could sing to. that’s why individual music produced on the plots was so much better.
not to mention, they shut everything down at “7pm”! and, they had the “police” stationed on an elevated crane to oversee everybody as if we were in “prison” or convicted criminals.
so much for “ghoe”. we should change the name to “utbghoe” which means, “use to be the greatest homecoming on earth”...

Based on the pictures I saw of the plots, there were a lot of unhappy Greeks out there. Probably next year no one will show up because of awful music and draconian restrictions.

There was definitely a different feeling to it with the cross and music changes.
