Hey folks a good gesture now would be to set up a "gofundme" or "kickstarter" account so we can get the BGMM to Elon in 2 days. There have been enough posts here and publicity in the past 7 days about the BGMM to garner enough attention to get these kids to Rhodes Stadium. Let's go Aggies, lets put our money where are mouth/typing fingers are. I got $25 for it, just post the link, please Aggie Pride Thanks for the intent, although there's no way the Elon game is going to happen at this point. This isn't new, though. I remember hearing a month or two ago that the band may not be going to the Elon, Norfolk, or FAMU games. I'm not surprised at all about FAMU, but Elon and Norfolk were kind of unexpected. Anybody know if there's any possibility of the NSU trip happening? If you do want to donate, you can give directly to the band at www.ncat.edu/giving/give-now.html. Click "online donation right now", enter your information, then choose "Music/Band Instruments" if you want to donate for equipment, "Johnny B Hodge Jr Loyalty Endowed Scholarship" for scholarships, or any other fund you want to give to. One thing I would ask of the staff is a little more direction to alumni on how we can help out. I'd love to know who I can thank for our wonderful band web site at www.marchingmachine.com. Or our first class dust bowl I mean practice field. I know, I know, nobody wants to PUBLICLY put their boss on blast, but...' Has anybody priced an observation tower? That's probably the most immediate thing I can think of we could help with. Or maybe a study on paving the practice field. I haven't heard that mentioned, but that could be great if we came up with a plan and got the university would okay it. If this was known months , why is this now just being brought to light? It now makes since what Broadway was talking about in the beginning of the season. He knew the band wasn't gonna be able to go to all the away games.

BDV family…lets do the fundraiser like we conducted for women's basketball and raise money for scholarships, i will donate as always…I'm not to worried about the travel budget. Giving kids money for school does more for the program than a trip to Norfolk or Elon. Correct me if Im wrong…
All I ask of the band is that they let us know how many scholarships are given out with the money…HBCUs have a habit of mismanagement donations.

aggie2039, you are right on point. Student scholarships do more to help our band than charter bus funds. Think about it...if we want kids to know we appreciate their efforts, help them buy books, pay for their meal plan or pay student fees.
If you want to give money right now for A&T band scholarships, there are already two existing organizations...The Blue & Gold Band Boosters and Each One Reach One Band Scholarship Fund. The B&G Band Boosters is a group of alumni, band staff and parents that raise money to support the band every year. In fact, one of their biggest fundraising events is their giant TV raffle at Homecoming. They work directly with the band staff to help supplement the band's shrinking budget.
Each One Reach One is a band student scholarship fund established in 2010 by 6 former A&T Marching Band members from the 1960's. The goal of EORO was to raise money just for band scholarships that could be given out to band members in an emergency. These funds are put in the A&T Foundations and if a band students is short on money for books, meal plan, tuition or student fees, Dr. Ruff can authorize giving them funds. These are emergency scholarships and can range from a few hundred dollars up to a thousand dollars. Since it was founded in October 2010, EORO has raised $36,882 which has gone to dozens of band students & Golden Delight.
For more information on both organizations, email me at cfisher@thesalesinstitute.com

Hey guys, I really like that "Clarence L. Fisher, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund" and if you want to drop a few dollars in there I'm sure that old guy would appreciate it. I happen to personally know that elderly gentleman and I think he's one of the nicest Aggies around. LoL!!!

Not to change the subject but I just saw an article where the University of Georgia had put in the contract to play Southern University that Southern had to bring their marching band..."The Human Jukebox"
Now Southern will get all hell beat out of them in the game for their $650,000 payday but the fans in the stands and the Southern band will have a few minutes of fun.
I guess this is how UGA will entice their fans to show up for this awful game.
Folks, as much as I love the Blue and Gold Marching Machine, I sure hope we don't get any opportunities to play at halftime in the Big 10 or SEC!

We may be playing FBS teams for the next three years but we're aren't looking to become cannon fodder. After this year the Big Ten will no longer schedule any FCS teams and our AD has said previously that scheduling a SEC team was not on his radar. but money talks so we'll see beginning in 2019 or so.

Yea money talks. I think games like Kent State we should be very competitive they are not UNC Chapel Hill. As far as playing a major SEC or Big 10 Team I like the idea if you have a specific purpose for the funds you get. For example if we decided to go that route and took $650k to build a small press box on the visitor side of the stadium to film games and for TV games and put in a artificial turf field I would be all for it. However if the $ just goes into our general athletic budget and just gets used for day to day expenses? ??

I think we should use this as a learning moment. If we know we want the band to attend the away games we should plan for it AND we should start now. Case and point: if it cost $10,000 to move the band (100 Aggies @ $100). Why not project a season, which would be for 5 games @ $10,000 for a total of $50,000 (100 Aggies @ $100 @ 5). This way we pretty much guarantee the band has transportation for each away game. That way the band doesn't have that expense to worry about. All it takes is a solid commitment by 100 Aggies...think about it. HOWEVER, we cannot wait to the week of a game when we hear the band isn't going to try a fundraising effort...too late.

I like the approach. What would be great if the band would work with the Alumni Association to identify budget shortfalls and trip funding needs. Then we could conduct a serious fundraising.
