That, many assumed, was the final loose end in a decades-long march toward racial integration in college football. A fair assumption, but not quite accurate. There were and are a few others, and one will be taken care of tonight when N.C. A&T plays at Wake Forest in the first football game between an active ACC member and a historically black college or university. "Really?" asked Wake athletics director Ron Wellman. "It surprises me that this would be the first. But it just made sense to play this game." "I have never really thought about it like that," A&T Chancellor James Renick said.
