Let's be real. He wasn't that great at catching balls. Doesn't take away from what he gave to the program the two years he was at Ayantee. He puts me in the mind of Larry Raper in that regard. He'll land on his feet pretty easily. He's got that Ayantee degree in addition to his speed. Man, come on now Dooms. i was trying to stay positive, LOL. But Raper "paper". I was wrong for the nick-name, totally wrong to do that to a fellow aggie........but come on man, ROFL. Dont compare my man to Raper Paper, LOL. Dez is way better than that. Just look at the stats.

Dez benefitted from how Bustle utilized him. Had Raper gotten similar plays, he'd have had similar stats.
Sadly, if we had them both on the team at the same time, I think we'd have run even more, lol.
Neither was a receiver in high school to my knowledge. It may have been asking a bit too much for them to magically become top flight receivers in college. Especially with so-so quarterbacks throwing to (well, near) them.
I wonder where ole Raper is now anyways... but that's off topic. I wonder if Dez is willing to roll to Canada.

by the way, i still say dez should've gotten some touches from the running back position. don't need great hands to be a running back. it helps a great deal, but it ain't necessary as long as you can hold onto the ball...

If he's willing to go up north I think he would make a name for himself .

I can see you in the car running back to be truthful I have always seen Lawrence as A running back. Also he may have an opportunity to run track as a pro. with two years of all American status he could sign with about any major track and field organization as an pro. Dez Lawrence has other opportunities available.

i agree, saabman. the guy has too much talent to just hang up the cleats this early in his career. indeed i hope he pursues a pro career on both the track circuit as well as the cfl. too much talent to just call it quits for this young man...

Didn't Wallace Miles go to rookie minicamp with the Lions too before heading to CFL?

just looking at the muscles on this guy, how could our coaches not give him some touches from the rb position? dude has a rb's body and we all know he has the speed. to me, dez would've been a really good "change up" back to compliment cohen...

I always saw Dez as a RB but the coaches envisioned using him as a receiver because of his speed I can understand that. but it would have been nice to see him carry the ball

Lawrence was a rb the season he sat out. It would seem to me they had more than enough time to determine how good a rb he would be

Lawrence was a rb the season he sat out. It would seem to me they had more than enough time to determine how good a rb he would be I agree, some people are just not natural running backs. They dont have the vision or the lateral movement to be that great. I'm sure coaching staffs(ours and ECUs) noticed something wasn't there for him to be a great running back. I can imagine the frustration by an OC or running back coach watching this kid with all this speed NOT make the right cut or not look that impressive in lateral drills in practice.
