Who else worked out during our Pro Day? We had to have a few OL and D. Grant working out for the scouts. Anyways, Dez will be in somebody's training camp this fall. All he has to do is perfect his punt catching abilities and he will make a squad's 53-man roster. He can work on the pass catching once he makes it to the league. it would be nice if it work that way " he can work on his pass catching once he makes it to lead" but that's not how it works he needs to work on his past catching now and also his punt and kickoff return skills. reason being because they will look at his competition level. i agree with you, saabmam. besides, i don't think dez is a very good punt returner. otherwise, we would've used him at a&t as a punt returner. i think dez returned kickoffs for us, but not punts. in my opinion, i think dez will have to bring something more to the table than just "speed" in order to make an nfl roster. dez has superior speed at the fcs level, but there's plenty of guys in the nfl who have dez like speed. he's gonna have to separate himself with something other than speed if he is to make an nfl roster...

4.35 & 4.38 on grass is moving and had he been given the benefit of the combine's facility his time would probably have been even better. That kind of speed is elite at any level, FBS included. When Dez finished 7th in the nation in track last year he may have been the only one that played football. I said to myself all last season that I couldn't understand why we couldn't figure out how to maximize his gifts. Like what’s been said, speed alone will not get him a roster spot but it can probably get him some looks. Obviously his catching needs to improve but I'd think he has a shot as a kickoff returner at the minimum.

I think when we see Hester's playcalling this year, we'll be kicking ourselves because Des could have been a big cog in it... Sent from my EVO using proboards

Was Bustle really that bad as an OC? I know he called some bonehead plays, who doesn't...insert Pete Carroll's name here. But, wasn't his body of work okay though?

Was Bustle really that bad as an OC? I know he called some bonehead plays, who doesn't...insert Pete Carroll's name here. But, wasn't his body of work okay though? Bustle did some very good things. I think the biggest areas he didn't succeed were: a. Not using Cohen effectively in space...and being too predictable with Dez... b. Not creating an effective short passing game plan for Klugh in the SCSU game c. Exposing his QB to injury and ineffective play calling in our championship game against NCCU d. Not effectively using TEs and FBs I think Hester's offense is actually more diverse and allows the offense to do more things...the offense has been more closely matched to the defense than at any time I've seen in spring or summer...usually the offense is way behind the defense and playing catch up. That hasn't been the case this go-round...and it's not a knock on the defense...the offense is just less predictable...and that's a good thing... Sent from my EVO using proboards

I hear ya but, I'm saying do we really think we will average most points on offense than we did this past season? We had 3 games where we were poor on offense and those were Elon, SCSU and Central. But we weren't God awful either. We pulled one out. If you told me at the beginning of last season that over 9 games we'd average over 30 points a game, I would've taken that deal any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The opponents we loss to were the problem for everyone. So, I'm interested to see the new offense...I have to see it to believe it.

Congrats to Dez!!! Also... LB/DE Ty Brown from NCCU landed with Tampa Bay based on that list as well. LB/DE Lynden Trail from Norfolk St. signed with Houston. Two OL from Tennessee St got drafted.. OG Robert Myers in the 5th round to Baltimore and OT Anthony Morris in the 7th round to Oakland.
