The offense scored 5 times ,and the defense scored once off of an interception . The receivers looked really good ,Denzel Keyes made a spectacular one-handed catch . Looks like we will airing the ball out a lot next season , the majority of the plays were pass plays .

No, they have to finish out at their current schools this semester and come in for summer school.

It looks clearly like Raynard is the #1 qb. I like the fact that he gets rid of the ball much quicker than Quick but on the downside he zeros in on one receiver way too much.

Liked the pressure generated by our defensive front without resorting to a lot of blitzing. Julian McKnight looked very promising at DT and I like what I saw from DE Turner Nichols another red shirt freshman in pass rush situations.
A full wrap up on as BVD.com Sunday.

If you are a fan of RBs and TEs in the passing game... you would be very happy.... If you are a fan of the deep ball in the passing game.... you would be very happy today.... If you are a fan of offense with a purpose.... you should feel very good about today.... If you like to see a good pass rush.... you should feel very good about today.... If you like to see physical DB play.... you'd be pleased about today... If you were hoping to see Femi Bamiro progress as an FCS QB.... you should be very pleased today...
I'll defer to A1 for the rest of the details...

Well I know without a doubt we will not abandon on running game so, maybe they are working on the passing game. But if we can pass the ball with purpose that will only help the running game. Sounds good.

What percent were running plays vs. passing plays called by the offense? 3.) Did any transfers stick out or are they allowed to do spring ball? 4.) Who are the TE's and how did they look? FB's? 5.) Would you say at this point Femi is #2 at QB? 6.) Did Raynard seem to have command and leadership in running the offense? 7.) Will we be able to get anything from Foster this season? 8.) You mentioned deep ball......do we have anybody other than Bullock/Keyes that can go get it? Is Raynard accurate in the medium to long passing game? 9.) Did Raynard make smart decisions? (Throwing the ball away as opposed to taking a sack or throwing an INT) 10.) Were the offensive plays sent in to the QB so that a rhythm could be established? 11.) How was the punting game? I know I put a lot on you but give me the word on my Aggie Doggs

We didn't stay for the whole scrimmage, but I thought Raynard looked pretty sharp. Got the ball off quickly and was pretty accurate. He seemed to stick to his first option a lot, but he hit consistently. They ran the ball maybe 25% of the time. They ran no-huddle and the pace was pretty crisp, but I wouldn't categorize it as a hurry-up type offense.
The defense lit up a lot on the 2nd and 3rd string qb's.
They have 1 kicker on the roster at this point with 3 punters coming in the Fall. I'd say the punting game was non-existent today.

I know I put a lot on you but give me the word on my Aggie Doggs Hey aggie2ru.... that is a good bit, but I'll try... 1. Amos Williams... looks fast, shifty... caught 5 balls for 52 yards and the TD to end the game from Femi... way to make the big play and close things out. got stuffed on a few dive plays. Got some decent yardage on a couple of stretch plays and scored a rushing TD... but lost a fumble. He's a redshirt freshman with nice potential behind Cohen, but he won't last long at RB if fumbles become a pattern. 2. 25-30% run plays. I think that was by design. Passing offense is always more difficult to learn than running offense. I like the practice we got out there. Plus, not running so much keeps your whole team healthier in the spring. 3. No transfers came early... they're still in school. The one player who did arrive early out of high school is Julius Reynolds. Denzel Jones made some good plays, but he was a part of the reason that the defense got ate up by our RBs in the passing game (8 receptions for 96 yards and 2 TDs between Cohen and Williams). Jones has come a long way from being a walk-on and gives great effort on the field. But we have to have the athleticism and speed at MLB to match the best RBs in FCS. I am very high on Reynolds and will not be surprised one bit if he opens the season as a starter. 4. The TEs who played were Francis (#19) and Swann (#87)... both looked pretty good. Not as much FB play this go-round. 5. Yep. Frank looked pretty good out there... he actually OVERTHREW Michael Weaver by a couple of yards on a deep ball that would have been a TD after stepping up into a broken pocket. That was the Foster we thought we were going to see prior to Thrilla's "Frankie Phenom" banner..... But Femi is pretty secure as the #2 QB. He has come a long way from his first two years in Bustle's system. That's a lot of hard work that should be commended. 6. Yep. Raynard got it going after the 1st 3-and-out series. Raynard went 22-36 for 230 yards, 2 TDs and 1 rushing TD. Raynard's big things to work on are a) knowing when to hold'em and when to fold'em in the pocket, because he wants to win from the pocket... and b) missing high. That said... he's the guy... 7. See #5. Frank can be a serviceable FCS QB as long as his shoulder continues to gain strength. He did some good things out there. 8. Xavier Griffin... he caught a nice bomb that Femi uncorked in the 4th quarter. Of the current WRs, he is the best at tracking the deep ball, IMHO...Keyes is the athletic freak, but Griffin is a good WR in his own right. 9. See #6. It's hard to gauge because if the defense got a hand on the QB, it was considered a sack... but the 2nd half was a little tougher for Raynard as the defense tightened up. He has escapability... but knowing when to bail will be something Barnette will have to work with Raynard on. 10. The playcalling looked reasonably in-sync. 11. No kicking... all offense/defense More to come from A1...

When he was in the defense was playing zone not man. So its hard to put the blame on one player. The offense just made the rite call. The Reynolds kid will be a stud. I belive he will be playing beside Jones first game. Jones signaled the plays in last year to take pressure off of Grant.

I belive he will be playing beside Jones first game. Jones signaled the plays in last year to take pressure off of Grant. Hey... this is durhamgsoaggie.... welcome to the board! I do think Jones' experience in handling play calls is important. I also think there's a good reason why you don't ask Jones to play in man when Tarik Cohen is in the game. Zone is supposed to keep everything in front of you, but the LBs still have to have enough reaction speed to limit the YAC. Cohen gaining 44 yards receiving on underneath routes on essentially one drive isn't exactly what I call limiting YAC. And Jones was in for that drive. In the games we lost last year (Coastal, SCSU, NCCU), we averaged 200 yards rushing per game and got gashed underneath and up the seams in the passing game. Denzel struggled in all of those games. I think Julian McKnight in the DT rotation makes us much more formidable against the run and pass up the middle. The secondary looks much more reactive and quicker with a year of experience under their belt. I believe that Tony McRae is going to have an excellent year at CB. But the most important position on the field is arguably MLB. Denzel Jones is a great story. I saw improvement from him on Saturday. The question I have is whether the improvement enough to get us to 8-0 in the MEAC? The real test for that will be the Elon game on 9/19 prior to the bye week and the start of MEAC play. If Denzel can truly raise his level of play and take away the middle of the field... this defense is talented enough to allow 14 ppg against non-FBS competition next year. That should be good enough to run the table in the MEAC. But SCSU and NCCU gameplanned to attack the middle of the field on us last year, and I don't expect that to change when we see them this year. They are also going to go after the young CBs opposite of McRae. The youngsters will just have to be ready. It sounds like it's Denzel's time to shine... I'm hoping that he makes it happen!
