I say stay the course with the conference. If the meac had a better FCS playoff rocord I could see having an argument against the Bowl. But I'm with Rain on this one, Stay the course with the conference.

The bottom line will be if we are in a position to make it to the playoffs versus the bowl game, I don't think there will be any debate within our athletic department about which choice we would opt for.

We will be in for one UGLY fight this fall. I can't wait for the ratchetness to ensue! That front office better hope we don't win the Conference.

Lol But I will say this for the playoffs. If we win the meac and choose to Fargo the Bowl game. We have better win that playoff game and I don't mean this Respectable showing crap, because if we don't win the blow back is going to be a lot Ungler then the fight with in the MEAC now.

You guys have it all wrong. There will be no fight if we win the conference. Each year prior to August 1st every conference that receives an AQ has to confirm to the NCAA & FCS Playoff Committee that their champion will participate in the playoffs. Once the MEAC gives notice that our conference champion is committed to a bowl game our AQ is gone and by agreement the FCS Selection Committee will not extend an at-large bid to the conference champion. Once the MEAC gives that notice to the NCAA our option would be to participate in the bowl game or stay at home and probably incur a fine.

If we commit to this bowl game, the FCS Selection Committee will NOT extend an at-large bid to any MEAC team, even if their record is 10-1 with their lone loss to the conference champion.

Then how is the SWAC working around that ? The SWAC does not participate in the playoffs . I always thought those SWAC teams, not named Grambling State or Southern, who didn't win their division could participate in the playoffs. It never sufficed that a team in the SWAC had a strong enough resume to be granted an At-large bid. But, I never read anywhere that all SWAC teams forego the playoffs.

Very interesting question ? I had always heard the SWAC did not participate. Even heard SWAC does not participate from an Alcorn State Grad.

I'm glad we picked up that extra game and Shaw is perfect. They are instate so they may bring a few fans and there's some historic significant to us playing them. When the "Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race" was founded in 1891 if was first housed on Shaw's campus. By the way, has anybody wonder if SC State will still be open to play us this year? They may not actually close their doors this year but just that rumor has to negatively impact all their academic and athletic programs. Just wondering. You are correct. Shaw was the very first "college" opened for people of color in North Carolina and played an instrumental part in the beginning of A&M for the Colored Race. Many of our charter faculty originated from Shaw (by graduation or otherwise).

GSU and SU may not have but other SWAC teams have.
