Garbage Time: The late Herbert Dixon and a cruel irony
Thomas Pope - Sports editor
It's impossible for me to think of Clinton High School football without soon envisioning the Dark Horses' Herbert Dixon. Dixon was the Observer's region Player of the Year in 2001 after leading his team to a 15-0 record and the state 2-A championship. Only 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Dixon played far bigger, anchoring the Clinton defense at linebacker and serving as its main weapon offensively as a running back.
