N.C. A&T campus to get clock tower

GREENSBORO — N.C. A&T is adding a clock tower to its Greensboro campus. The university will build its first clock tower in the Bluford Street traffic circle next year. The brick tower will stand about 85 feet tall. It will have clocks on its north and south faces and a bell system that will chime on the hour. The clocks will be back-lit with LED lights that will shine either blue or gold — A&T’s colors — or white. “If you’re in one of the taller buildings downtown, you’ll be able to see where A&T is,” Andrew Perkins, the university’s associate vice chancellor for facilities and engineering, said Wednesday. The UNC Board of Governors approved A&T’s plans for the clock tower on Friday. The university wants to start construction in January and finish it in May before the end of the spring semester. It's such a different campus than it was when a number of us were there. It's absolutely beautiful whereas before, honestly, you had to kinda learn to love it.

I think about that too. Basically my mom and I went to the same A&T, the campus was no different. By the time my youngest brother started at A&T it was totally different.

I love the Clock Tower idea! However, I want our fans to continue the tradition started by Coach Broadway. When we win (not if but when) we win any championship, I'd like the celebration to start at the "February One" statue with all the fans lining up and touching the A&T Four's feet as we progress to the clock tower and the Holland Bowl. It's a special moment when Coach Broadway and the players silently pay their respects to those four A&T students.

nice!! and the bluford street traffic circle is the “perfect” location for it. plus, just imagine how good all of that is gonna look once the new student union is complete. its gonna be gorgeous...

It's such a different campus than it was when a number of us were there. It's absolutely beautiful whereas before, honestly, you had to kinda learn to love it. So true ,whenever I take friends and relatives from out of town on a tour ,they are very impressed and say what a beautiful campus we have . |

Good stuff! Hopefully, the landscaping around it will up be to par. I would even suggest some palms; use some of the native NC palms and a few others that work in Greensboro's 7b climate zone.

Well I know a lot of you on this site think I'm the anonymous donor but I must confess...if I had an extra $1.2 million to spare, I'd use it for Blue and Gold Marching Machine and Golden Delight scholarships. Those kids work their tails off and they deserve some financial support.
In fact I love the Tower idea but $1.2 million could be used for scholarships for more engineering students. Use those funds for scholarships and buy the kids a Timex watch to tell when it's time to go to class!

The campus is changing and it's making feel proud and envious of the current students. For Christ's sake, they have couches in the Cafe'!

And their exercise facility is world-class. I cannot wait to see what the new student union looks like. Just hope that have a corner set aside for us old Aggies to hang out and talk. |

I'm nostalgic, so I'll miss/I miss the old. I'd love to be a student for a week to experience all the new, though.
