This is probably one of the most solid lineups top to bottom that HONDA has had in a while....

Only one D2 school, which happens to probably the best one. The change in the selection process doesn't mandate two bands from each of the four conferences like it used to.
BTW, I just looked at the lineup again. DAMN!

Not sure how Howard Univ. "SHOWTIME" got an invite, CONFUSED!   They Suck! The rest of the Bands are considered "HEAVYWEIGHTS" AGGIE PRIDE! |

Howard got in because they've never been. I don't think they can compete with the other 7 bands but I think it's a good gesture to invite them.
This is a hell of a line up and the BGMM will have to do what we do so well...put on another fantastic show. There are 5 bands in the lineup that have the size to just blow the roof off of the Dome. Cookman will have a big sound but if they stick with their usual show they will be boring as heck. Jackson State and Southern are the biggest threat. They have the size and musicianship to be really tough to beat. Tennessee State is big but raggedy...they're a hot mess. Don't know much about Alabama State. The wildcard is Talladega College. They are big, loud and brassy but don't have a field presence. But since they don't have to prepare for football games every week like the rest of us "working bands" they can start today practicing their Honda show. Just think about it...nearly 3 months to perfect one halftime show. Wish we had that opportunity.
Every year when the Honda lineup is announced, I get nervous. But this year I'm going to just relax. Dr. Ruff and his staff are amazing and they will have our kids ready no matter what. I keep reminding myself, that to become the champion you have to beat the champion and the BGMM "is" the champion! Let's do what Aggies Do!

I attended this event last January, and how correct about BCU( The Pride) (yes there drill has been seen time and time again)
Alabama State was their last year as well, they were ok, nice sound, (nice drills)
Sonic Boom of the South, nice size, but to big to look crisp, ( and look for some type of gimmick!)
THE Juke Box of Southern is the threat!
Thank god they got rid of "raggedy rams" WSSU,(out of their league (Literally)
I guess I understand about "Showtime" Howard (ugh) hehehehehe!
If I had to invite someone from The MEAC that never been, Hampton before Howard!

This lineup is really good. You have most of the heavy hitters present. A&T and Southern have really been on it this year. People will be coming for us, since we have the crown.

Honda finally gets it right. Ever since the introduction for a winner last year Honda took it up a notch bringing the best bands and inviting 3 SWAC schools, minus Howard  . Honestly I think they chose Howard because of their huge fan base in the A. This year is gonna be a sellout. That tunnel will be rocking! |

The one and most important thing A&T has going for itself is the level of creativity year in and year out. Most bands are going to do what they do: Southern, Jackson, Tenn. State and the rest. However, I realize that being so creative sets the bar high and it adds pressure to come up with something better year after year. But, it can be done. But, it is a monster roster this year.
