It's time to look ahead to Saturday playing at Elon. Last year, we beat them 23 - 10 at our place.
This is the perfect game to release our frustrations with letting the CCU game slip away.
Interesringly enough, Kindle went 20/38 for 288 yards and we had almost 500 yards of offense against a Elon. Elon was also able to throw the ball effectively somewhat against us with their QB throwing for 295 yards.
Fans over on their message board believe Aggie Nation will travel just like App State travels to their stadium and take over.
Other Notes:
Elon is in their first year as a member of the CAA and have a new Head Coach Rich Skrosky who was their OC during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Last year, he was a member of Ball State's offensive staff that averaged almost 487 yards/game.
I fully expect the Fighting Christians to want to air it out as we quickly jump on them. Expect Cohen and Quick to dominate things on the ground and their secondary is ripe to allow our passing game to get our timing down.
What are your thoughts?

After seeing the turnout of Costal Caroalina fan base. I really would not even want to go and give Elon my money. But I also want to support our team. It so frustrating to see White schools who are within hours of our campus act like they are either to good or scared to come out to a HBCU Football stadium.

Trues,
It is what it is. We gotta focus on filling our place with our fans.
But I digress.

It is. LOL Back to the topic! Here's an article excerpt from Elon about their loss against Duke. www.elonphoenix.com/news/2014/8/30/FB_0830143135.aspx?path=footballDURHAM, N.C. – #Kierre Brown# set an Elon record for kickoff return yards, but the Phoenix dropped its opener at Duke by a 52-13 margin on Saturday night. Brown set the record on his second return of the night as he gained 18 yards on the return to give him 1,849 career kick return yards as he surpassed the mark of 1,872 set by Rod Clark from 1991-94. He ended the night with 174 return yards to bring his career total to 2,017. "I think we played hard until the end, but the result is the result," said Elon head coach #Rich Skrosky#. "The game should have been closer than it was. Too many of our errors were self-inflicted on both sides of the ball. Overall, I'm proud of my guys. They're a great group. We're going to get this thing going. We ran the ball pretty well." After the Phoenix (0-1) went three-and-out on the opening series, Duke (1-0) drove 61 yards in 11 plays to claim a 7-0 lead when Anthony Boone lofted a four-yard pass to the back left corner of the end zone to Issac Blakeney. Elon came right back and put together a 13-play, 61-yard drive that ended when #John Gallagher# booted a 36-yard field goal. The drive began at the Elon 20 before the Phoenix converted a third-and-six with a 10-yard completion from #Mike Quinn# to #Tre Lennon#. That was followed by a 14-yard dash by #Tracey Coppedge# as Elon moved to its own 48-yard line. The maroon and gold would get the ball to the Duke 19 for a fourth-and-one before kicking the field goal with 3:06 showing on the first-quarter clock.

A&T has been playing football for numerous decades..... CCU has been playing football since 2003.....it's gonna take time for them to build a rabid fan base. Alumni who weren't exposed to CCU football as students aren't gonna have that strong of a desire to follow their schools' football program. It's gonna take more years of graduating classes at CCU who were exposed to their football for them to be huge travelers to away games.
I think the Elon game will be packed. It will be their first home game with a new coach. That always breeds eternal optimism. Their new coach is one who's been in their system - I think Elon faithful will be much more supportive of him and will come out in large numbers to show it. But even Elon hasn't been playing FCS football for 20 years.....
Face it folks - we're cursed with being passionate about a football program that has been around for MULTIPLE DECADES. It disappoints me too that others don't come to our stadium as much as we do theirs. However, as Decks has stated before, it really is up to US to fill our own seats. Even with that being said, I still believe the AD should call the AD's of the other schools and voice his displeasure with how we're filling their stands and the opposite isn't being reciprocated. Aggie Stadium takes a backseat to no one. I definitely believe there are other factors involved.

This will be a tough game. (I hope that im surprised and we roll.) But it just seems like Elon has a chip on its shoulder like WSSU. I may go to this game, if I can work some stuff out.
This may turn out to have a nice section of Aggies against the world. And where no one can sit out their hands. I love that vibe.

Stat wise, we may allow them to put up yards but we will get our yards too and we should win by a bigger margin than we did last year, even with a young squad.

Two quick points, I'm still mad as hell that we let CCU get away with a win Saturday and I want to kick the dog! And since I don't own a dog and they lock us up for abusing animals, we'll have to take it out on Elon. We learned last week that if we want to win at this level we have to play hard every play, every snap, every minute.
We have the talent and motivation to blow these guys out. It will be interesting to see how the team bounces back from that tough loss.
As for going to Elon, to support this team I'd buy a ticket to a clan rally! I don't expect them to show up at our stadium but that will not stop us from taking over their stadium. Brace yourself Elon, a bunch of mad Aggies are heading your way and we don't plan on leaving mad this time!

I don't care nothing about ELON, CCU, or Howard, Hampton for that matter, not coming to Aggie Stadium. If our AD is wasting time calling other ADs about our attendance, when he needs to be figure out how to get more Aggies in Aggie Stadium then he's confused about his job.
This is not the week to stay away. Last year this young team lost a heartbreaker to SCSU and lost that game again on consecutive weekends to Hampton and Del State. WE need to take over ELON's stadium this week and get this Chanticleer taste out of our mouths.
ELON has two weeks to prepare, they probably know our personnel as well as we do, and all we have is the Duke game. Last year they were 0-3 in the red zone, they put up 340 total yards with 295 of them passing. We have to assume they at least have better coaching this year.

A77, Hey man, I agree our AD needs to also focus his energy on making sure more Aggies come to all the home games. However, I've been to some away games at non-HBCU institutions. We showed up big at App St. We showed up big at CCU 2 years back. We showed up big at Elon years prior. Yes, it is incumbent upon us to fill our own stadium, but it bothers me the paucity of numbers Elon brought to Aggie Stadium last year. Elon was 1-1 when we played them last year....they had not yet known how bad their team was.
What I'd be curious to know is how well non-HBCU teams we play travel to other stadiums. If Elon's travel to other schools is as lame as it is to Aggie Stadium, then we all need to squash this....but if they travelled well to App St, WCU or other schools in the SoCon (and now the CAA), then something's wrong. WE ARE THEIR CLOSEST FCS OPPONENT.

I don't want to highjack this thread from it's intent to discuss the upcoming matchup, but to address nss's question/concerns:
It's not rocket science. They don't want to be around us, never had and never will. That's why I find it funny whenever the discussion comes up about changing conferences. They'll play us, but their fans are not going to travel. So let's just move on. Here's an excerpt from the Atlanta Hawks' owner that sums it up perfectly. He's really just telling the truth (Except for the fact, there are no Superstars on the team that would draw a crowd...)
The email, which was sent to Ferry and copied to several of Levenson's partners, had numerous comments that could be considered racist when discussing the atmosphere at Hawks games. In it, Levenson suggested changes that he thought would potentially attract more white ticket buyers. It included the following passages: "I think southern whites simply were not comfortable being in an arena or at a bar where they were in the minority" and "I have been open with our executive team about these concerns. I have told them I want some white cheerleaders and while I don't care what the color of the artist is, I want the music to be music familiar to a 40 year old white guy if that's our season [tickets] demo. I have also balked when every fan picked out of crowd to shoot shots in some timeout contest is black. I have even [complained] that the kiss cam is too black."
