We can hang with everyone in the FCS except for North Dakota State who is in class beside themselves. I will give some props to Quick who had some excellent run and about 3 clutch 3rd down passes. I think he is still are best hope at QB he just got get better throwing the ball.
I think I would have done the same thing in the 4th qtr like Coach Broadway and let my defense hold them. I think I would line the box with 7 or 8.
It is heartbreaking day in the MEAC with tough losses by Morgan State and A&T.
On to Elon

I love the speed that A&T has. We are going to be OK!

What was up with Broadway not calling a timeout at the end? The jumbotron said we had 2 left. The tracking of downs n yards was off all night so I don't know if that's true. Tito's was kicking in by then and I couldn't remember if we used our timeouts. Anybody know?

If we stopped them on their final drive, Broadway was trying to save a TO for his team to use on offense to get into FG range. When we couldn't stop them on that critical third down, there was no point to use the timeouts.

We learned a lot about ourselves. Broadway may find another Cohen before the season ends. > that last Defensive stand showed us that He believed that they(the D)gave us the best chance to win (by getting the ball back). He knows our FG range. ect.
I said in the other thread that we just need to keep building depth on the D, to keep guys fresh and have at the ready any personnel scheme that we need for a task.

When we couldn't stop them on that critical third down, there was no point to use the timeouts. Broadway went with the higher percentage move in this situation given how much time was left at that point and it just didn't work out last night. Most every good college coach I know of would have done the same exact thing under those circumstances.

That Shift on a Straight Up FG try, that resulted in 5 ya penalty and MIDDLE fg 2)the passing Package is NOT suited to Quick...OFFENSIVE COORDINATER-Quick needs to have a package that better fits his Skill set...NOT Kindle's or Klugh's. 3) why you 3 passes called in late possession in 4th qtr. After Coastal took lead-u mean to tell me one of the Best backs in the Country doesn't get A Touch? 4) new holder on MOST important X pt in game and Broadway does not call Time Out to make sure kid is Ok?? Badddd "No CALL" COACH

I can see the team trending up. After a short week ( after the A A&M game), this was a good look to me. I love the heart!
I missed most of the 2nd half, but to me Quick is as exciting in the pocket as Herb Miller (when he would make people miss). Keep getting better young Man.
Tarik made me yell in the house when he scored on that run that ended with a long jump into the endzone. What a run!
*( getting greedy) but maybe if we can build a big lead in a game can we get some others some work. (Maybe Chowan as Elon has a chip on its shoulder). We have time before Conference play and pesky Howard.

Even if you call a timeout, quick would still not been able to hold for extra point. By rule he has to sit out one play. I think a lot of people are confusing the situation where if a player is hurt and game is stopped, then the coach has the option to call a timeout so he can remain in game, otherwise he has to sit out one play.

Hoseman, Ill yield to the board to respond to your questions with substance. I see it as us working out the kinks, all while playing a good team.
* I thought, for instance, that CC was too close to blocking our punts. We will see how it develops.
One thing for sure. If we are able to have a good year, get into the playoffs, and face a team like this again, we should be better.

YEP by rule he had to sit out the next play due to helmet coming off....I hate that rule but it is what it is...

Broadway always coaches scared late in games. I remember last year when he opted to forgo a 25 yard field goal in the fourth quarter against App State because he was afraid the kick might get blocked. That chip shot could have sealed the game but instead App drove down the field for a TD, recovered the onside kick and almost kicked a last second FG to steal the game. That being said, we would never even be in this position tonight if not for the masterful job Broadway has done with rebuilding our program. You just gotta take the good with his few shortcomings at this point and hopes he has a Ron Rivera type of epiphany before his career is over. Dude needs to become Riverboat Rod instead of Nervous Pervis. Very obvious to me. He is a conservative coach. Can't argue with where he has taken this program since he took the wheel. In that situation with the game on the line.....I just can't trust my defense to step up in that situation when they have yielded 480 yds. We convert on 4th down we are in field goal range at the least. We chose to punt we lose the game just like we did. They moved the ball at will. If they don't have those turnovers (5) the game is not even close. True dat our defense played a part in those turnovers but 480 yds. is hard to ignore.
