The Good
*Run Blocking - got off to a slow start but boy did those guys open some holes!
*Tarik Cohen - I think we all can agree that he's special. This kid has some jets!
*Kwashaun Quick - got off to a shaky start throwing the ball but settled down nicely. His decisions on the read option were almost flawless. Adds another dimension to this offense.
*Special Teams - Tony McRae comes up big again. I think Ghardin had a long punt return that got called back.
*Run defense - I was confused why AAMU was insistent on trying to run the ball?
*Team Speed - has to be one of the fastest teams in FCS. In fact on offense I doubt if there's a faster unit in the fcs ranks.
The Bad
*Third down defense - allowed AAMU to convert too many 3rd downs
*Refs - did ok but made a few bad calls especially on the punt return
*Didn't get the ball to Des Lawrence enough, but then again we didn't have to.
The Ugly
Secondary - They looked like a group that had never played together. Blown coverages all day long. If AAMU qb's had been more accurate this would have been a much closer game in the first half. By my count they overthrew 3 sure td's and another was called back because the receiver stepped out of bounds. Our weakness clearly got exposed in this game.

Decks, you are right on it. I flipped my view and saw all the good things that we did. Quick is a bad Dude! Our play calling was better to me. We won the game on our strengths. There was nothing to prove. If Quick can slice and dice like this all year, then the field will be wide open for Dez and others.
I dont know if we can play from behind, but if Quick can make it happen like He did yesterday, then we can strike at any time.

I think our Defensive calls were vanilla for the most part. I doubt we will call the same coverages next week unless we want Coastal to drop 50 on us.

I agree with Westcoast...if AAMU would've demonstrated that they could consistently beat the vanilla defense then, we would've changed. But, we did see a a change inthe 2nd qtr and every opportunity the defense gave the offense they capitalized on it. Lastly, we played 24 freshmen, with that being said, we are in great shape.

i dunno, wca. to me, even if our defensive calls were vanilla, you don't leave wr's completely "wide open" like we did. seemed to me that there was a mix up in communications in our secondary.
guys were just running free in our secondary and "nobody" was covering them. i'm absolutely certain that our pass defense will get coach broadway's highest priority this week in practice. those aa&m wr's being wide open was very "scary". if aa&m's qb's had connected with those wide open wr's, it would've changed the entire momentum of the game.
i know one thing, we better not leave wr's wide open against ccu this week...

But consider OSA...24 freshmen played. While that's no excuse, I expect that to be fixed next week. I'd like a little more pressure from the front 4, then we don't have worry about secondary.

Maxell, you are exactly right. It's one of the reasons our rush defense ranks high statistically. Our pass defense leaves a lot to be desired. Good news is that we play in the MEAC. There aren't many teams with good quarterbacks capable of exploiting our shortcomings.

I know we look ok in this game. But I am so bias when it comes to a running qb vs drop back passer. I am convince they are not looking for a Raynard type qb because looking a Klugh he is a quick but a better passer than him. (You almost have to wonder why did they recruit(raynard) him) I guess I have to try to get use to it. Although If quick continue to take those hits he may not make it though a season. Better Teams like coastal are going to force quick to to pass the ball if you want to beat us. So he really need to continue to work on his passing game. there was several time he just did not deliver the ball to the receivers in the first half. He got better in the second half.
No one did not mention but I saw a squeak of a talent from Klugh. He through the ball on the run and the receiver allowed it to go through his hand. He looked good as freshmen McRae I was very impress from scottland C. broadway recruited three guys from Scottland. What happen to the third guy I think he was a receiver?
Over all I was very impress with the overall team speed. Our offensive line are huge and in shape. It was so rewarding to see my man 6-7 Brandon Parker playing that RT. He was so tall yet not big and fat at 270. They have a RT that 6-7 but he was 350.

There aren't many teams with good quarterbacks capable of exploiting our shortcomings. I have too disagree with that statement about the # of good MEAC QB's. I would say that the MEAC may not have QB's that are NFL talent but they are good college QB's and fit the system that they are in. Too win at any level a QB and OC Has to know what his QB can do and can not do and know how to work the system around the QB's talents. It's not hard math. lol

Why didn't Foster get a series. All he did has hand the ball off for a TD
