I just left the game and a few observations: 1. Quick is really good at running the offense. 2. Cohen hasn't missed a beat from last year and to see him turn on the jets on the long td run was fun! 3. A&T rotated the DL all game and they are very good. Ragland and Pinnix played well.....think the kid from Toledo had a sack today also. Better pressure on the QB today. 4. Denzel jones played well. Grant his usual game. 5. Broadway played most of his second string after halftime. 6. Secondary needs to tighten up the pass coverage...
The score could have been worse but A&T elected to milk the clock in the second half....very good overall effort!

Down here in the sweltering heat. As everone has said Quick looked really rusty to start. After Quick missed a wide open D Lawerence, When Lawerence came to the sideline he threw up his hands with a smile as if that was normal. However, after Quick settled and got his first rushing, he had string of 3-5 completions in a row in the second half. Cohen looked awesom, he got blistered on one of his fist 2 or 3 carries and had to come out, but The Kid is the real deal. Klugh looks good, I think if Quick falters or has a long unproductive stint, Klugh is not the back up for no reason. Klugh has a strong arm, and throws a pretty ball with little rotation, and laser accuracy. We looked average at first but the depth, the spring practice, speed, and real fcs talent provided the lop sided victory. Last year, I think, this would have been a 24-21 victory, but with the upgrade in talent and depth, we got a blow out. I just hope we the program upgrades help is win ghe clues games with MEAC opponents.

I really like our offensive line. I do, too... the move to put Robinson at LG looks to be a great one for the OL and for Robinson's NFL prospects. The youngsters held up pretty good at OT, as well. I agree. He can be a great NFL Guard. I think our Tackles need to be better prepared for stunts and slants. I know Coastal with try to isolate them and frustrate them with their DE's attacking their inside gaps and a linebacker or tackle curling to the outside gaps. Alabama A& M had some success doing that and getting inside pressure early.

Great outcome for the first game of our season. Several observations that I noticed are:
1.) Quick is an accomplished option QB. The weakest part of his game is throwing the football. I think if early on we get a chance to boost his confidence....... first series we should throw some low risk passes (screens, slants, etc.) so that he can establish a rhythm. If we want to go to the promise land this year Quick needs to become a dual threat. Interesting fact is that Quick has been our starting QB in the opening game for the last 3 years.
2.) Our DB's need to play lock down "D". I realize this may take game experience as the season goes along because we have some first-time starters on the back end of our defense. One thing we know is "Funk Master To The Supreme Degree" Coach Broadway will devise a scheme that makes you beat us through the air because you gets nuthin on the ground!!!!
3.) Lastly, from my viewpoint, this season certainly looks very promising if we remain healthy.
P.S. It certainly is interesting that when league play starts usually most games are fairly close and can go either way.
I am and will remain "Aggie born and Aggie Bred" when I die I will be Aggie2ru dead.

Rumble Young Man rumble. Don't take this team lightly. Play with poise Aggies. I likes that "P" or should I say "Drew Bundini P" ??

There's a lot that I could nitpick, but some issues are to be expected for the first game. I understood that A&M would not be good this year. I hope that our players don't let this win go to their heads. We've got a short week to prepare for one of the better teams in the nation

i'm currently in hampton at mrs. oleschool's mother's house where i watched the game on espn. i was just like bluehaze, i had "butterflies" just before the opening kickoff!
man, i'm very please with our overall performance today given it was our very first game. but just like others stated, my biggest concern is that we had several "blown coverages" in our defensive secondary and wr's were left completely "wide open". a good passing qb would've easily put up big numbers against us, but aa&m's qb's miss several tremendous opportunities to connect with "wide open" receivers. so fortunately for us, we didn't have to pay for those lapses except for the final td aa&m scored. again, dude was "wide open" and aa&m's qb almost overthrew him just like the others.
we've got to get our pass defense fixed and fixed "fast"! coastal carolina will toast us if we don't. but other than that, i don't have too many complaints. i'll even give quick a pass for some bad throws initially, but i thought he rebounded nicely after he ran those two td's and settled down. i think we've got to keep throwing those "underneath routes" which quick seems to be a lot more comfortable with.
this was a great game for us prior to playing ccu. i think we'll correct some of our defensive secondary issues by next week, but we knew that would be a concern since we had to replace our entire secondary from last season's team. look for teams to try to exploit our secondary cuz lawd knows they can't run on us.
overall, our "speed" was just too much for aa&m. quick, cohen, and mccrae "burnt" them dudes with flat out "speed"! dez lawrence almost broke one too. i would've like to have seen cartwright get a few carries behind our starting o-line, but he still scored a td and i still expect big things out of him this season.
aggie pride!! great start to the season!!

First game is over......we got through it fairly well.
Looking at CCU, their QB went 24-32 for 263 yds against the Citadel. They also had 170 yds rushing. This tells me they know how to mix it up on offense.
I do think it helps we played them 2 years ago....and Quick was our starting QB for that game. Broadway and staff has gotta work with the secondary HEAVILY over this next week. CCU will have a field day against them if they exhibit the same lousy techniques next week as they did today. Quick has gotta to be better with his passing....and as much as we say implement more screens, quick slants and quick outs, CCU will know this is what our staff will try to do with Quick. They will be playing a defense particularly keying on the run....I see their safeties playing shallow and daring Quick to throw an accurate ball beyond 15 yards.
It's gonna take a well-called game for us to beat CCU. One thing that I still cannot get over is our speed. I cannot recall a team we have had with this much collective speed. Well-called plays + speed equals points on the scoreboard.
One last thing.....3rd down conversions - we were 2 of 11.....we have got to find ways to extend drives, especially against better teams. CCU went 8 out of 13 with their 3rd down conversion vs the Citadel. That's the mark of a good team.
The staff and the team has to be locked in big time for this game next week. This game is a huge measuring stick for our program. Beating CCU would be huge.

I think we played a lot of soft zone in the first quarter, but in the 2nd we started throwing different looks and blitzes and the rest is history. We have room for improvement and that's how it should be. But, the difference is we are talented enough to win against lesser opponents without our "A" game. Enough said... Now, onto to Coastal, we have to improve this week. I think we didn't show alot today defensively, so I hope we didn't show too much of our hand. Let's go Aggies!

Team should be in the training room right now, thinking about Coastal Carolina. One advantage about this week is that there are no classes on tomorrow, so both teams have the entire day to gameplan for each other.
Saturday could be a program-changing date for this football program! I hope that all non-football personnel in athletics are focusing on SELLING OUT AGGIE STADIUM on Saturday. Every single Aggie student should be "strongly-encouraged" to attend this game...even if they leave right after halftime. Commercials should be running on every black music station and sport talk station in The Triad and in Myrtle Beach specifically about this game. And I'd hope that they have some type of ticket promotion already set-up...such as: If you bring a ticket from a local high school game to the stadium on gameday, your ticket will be on $10. If you are a teacher in one of the public school systems, your teacher ID will allow you to purchase a "Family Pak" of 4 general admission tickets for only $50.
This is a golden opportunity to make a splash in The Triad!

Again. ..it's saying alot when you have plenty room for improvement but yet still win 47-13. I don't think we will get the big head at all after this victory. But , I cannot promise anything if we upset CCU...hell, I know sure will have one.

From the Orlando Sentinel: www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os-meac-swac-challenge-0901-20140831,0,4749561.story North Carolina A&T rolls to win over Alabama A&M in Orlando's MEAC/SWAC ChallengeBy J.C. Carnahan, For the Orlando Sentinel 8:22 p.m. EDT, August 31, 2014 Kwashaun Quick and Tarik Cohen each ran for two touchdowns in the first half Sunday to help North Carolina A&T roll to a 47-13 blowout of Alabama A&M in the 10th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge. The Aggies racked up 307 yards on the ground in front of an announced crowd of 8,210 at Bright House Networks Stadium. In its seventh year in Orlando, the matchup of historically black colleges and universities was moved to UCF due to ongoing renovations at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Quick put North Carolina A&T in front for good, 7-3, with close to four minutes to play in the first quarter as he bounced through the A&M defense for a 26-yard touchdown run. He scored again early in the second quarter, following a turnover-on-downs by Alabama A&M, to put A&T in front 21-6 on a spectacular run of 59 yards after baiting the defense on a fake handoff. "I just trust my reads and do what I'm coached," Quick said of his second score. "I saw the end crash, and I just pulled the ball and made a play." Despite a slow start for Cohen, the MEAC rookie of the year displayed his speed and agility while tacking on touchdown runs of 80 and 3 yards in the second quarter. His second put the Aggies in front 38-6 at the break. Quick finished 9 of 16 passing for 94 yards with an additional 94 yards on the ground. Cohen rushed 10 times for 161 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards. North Carolina A&T led 45-6 when Alabama A&M reached the end zone for the only time on a 5-yard pass from Brandon Wells to Jonathan Dorsey with 12 minutes to play. Freshman Marquell Cartwright scored on a 5-yard touchdown on A&T's first possession of the second half. The Aggies added a safety with three minutes left when a wayward snap to Jaymason Lee bounced out of the end zone. "We can run, and we've got some guys that's capable of making plays. We've just got to get the ball in the right spot," North Carolina A&T coach Rod Broadway said. Alabama A&M failed to finish off consecutive drives in the first quarter, stalling each time deep in the red zone and settling for short field goals of 20 and 27 yards from freshman Cesar Diaz-Ramon. The second kick pulled the Bulldogs within 7-6 with 16 seconds to spare in the opening quarter. Junior Tony McGae broke the game open for A&T on the ensuing kickoff when he took it 95 yards for a score. "Anytime you can hold them to three instead of giving up touchdowns, it changes things for you," Broadway said. The rebuilt Aggies defense finished the day with three sacks and two fumble recoveries. Jeremy Taylor forced a fumble on a sack in the second quarter to set up a 37-yard field goal by Cody Jones. A third-down sack by Daniel Pinnix on A&M's next possession set up Cohen's second touchdown. "We played 24 freshman today and came down with seven seniors," Broadway said. "We're still a young football team, but hopefully they'll grow up a little bit and develop and start playing like sophomores and juniors." Copyright © 2014, Orlando Sentinel
