Ed Hardin: Aggies’ Tarik Cohen in good company

GREENSBORO — Tarik Cohen stood on the sideline in Boone last year and cheered like everyone else. The only difference between him and the fans in visitors grandstand was he was wearing a uniform. Cohen, then an unknown freshman from Bunn, was hoping for a chance, but he knew it was a slim chance. “All I remember about that game was watching and hoping I’d get to play,” Cohen said Wednesday, four days from A&T’s opener and a year removed from one of the great stories in the history of Aggies football. “I think I carried the ball three times against Appalachian. For 9 yards.” Cohen’s debut was overshadowed by the win over ASU, but as the season would play out, he would become the story of the year. Now a sophomore with a record-setting year in his rear-view mirror, Cohen is chasing history. His coach is part of that history. “We’ve coached the leading rusher in the history of N.C. A&T, we’ve coached the leading rusher in the history of N.C. Central, and the leading rusher in the history of Grambling,” Rod Broadway said. “And he’s got a chance to be better than all of them.” For the rest of the story: www.news-record.com/sports/columns/ed-hardin-aggies-tarik-cohen-in-good-company/article_f6a24122-2f39-11e4-9395-001a4bcf6878.html

in terms of talent, cohen will probably be a better running back this year than last year. but in terms of stats, he may not have better stats because opposing coaches are gonna "game plan" to stop him this year and they've got a lot of film on him from last year. unlike last year, coaches didn't know a lot about him and were probably surprised to find out he was so talented.
the good news for cohen is that we've got more weapons this year and opposing teams had better not focus on stopping just one player otherwise someone else will burn them...
