i dunno. over the years, i’ve learned to “NEVER” take any opponent lightly because you will not give your best effort if you do. coach broadway “wisely” fed into that psychology when he first took over our program.
i mean, have you ever asked yourself why coach broadway almost always “publicly” mentioned to the media our lack of scholarships and practice sanctions during his first 3 years at a&t? almost every interview i heard or read coach broadway do, he always mentioned our lack of scholarships and practice sanctions which is very smart if you ask me. i’m sure he wanted his opposing coaches and opposing players to hear those comments because he knew his opponents would “subconsciously” think that they could take us lightly because we had fewer scholarship players and less practice time than everybody else. he knew if he could get his opponents to let their guards down that he’d have a chance to steal some victories that we otherwise probably would not have won.
to this very day, i think that’s exactly what happened to brian jenkins and his bcu football team when they came to aggie stadium 3 years ago and coach broadway “masterfully” and completely “dominated” the most dominant team in the meac which was bcu. nobody took us seriously that year until we dropped that bomb on bcu!
so i don’t wanna see our guys go into the meac/swac challenge thinking we’re gonna have an easy game against aa&m. i personally don’t view aa&m as an automatic win. imo, we could lose to aa&m if we don’t come into that game with the right mindset. don’t fall into the “trap” of taking this team lightly...

No budget...no media coverage. I know I b*tch and moan with the rest of you guys about our lack of media coverage but let's be honest, A&T has never been a marketing force. We still depend on word of mouth from a few "vocal" alums, some dedicated volunteers and a few under-paid overworked media staff to promote A&T. I realize that we have got to maintain our strong academic programs but we must also realize that sports and the band are great recruiting tools. I don't have the answer to this dilemma but I do know we are missing some great opportunities. We can always crowd-fund for the SID. I know some NCCU alums are looking into using things like KickStarter and GoFundMe for their items and UNC uses it already. I am looking into using it for the Wife and I's Blog/Magazine. A few racks can go a long way to buy the staff better phones and a dedicated Mac for editing video.

It doesn't take much to get somebody to stand in front of a couple of coaches with their iPhone after practice and shoot a 2 minute video.
Question 1: How is the team looking so far? QUestion 2: What do you need to work on before the first game? Question 3: what players have really stood out so far in camp? Thanks coach
How hard could this be??

We are also hiring interns for the Athletic Dept. So we will have bodies to do just this. Also, not every one has iPhones nor would you want someone filming this with their personal device.

Man forget budget. Get a camera phone out there and have about 3 good questions. This is not rocket science. Were not trying to record a 30 for 30 we just need coverage.

Haha.........Bluehaze, Coach Broadway doesn't answer those questions when there is not a camera around . Answers would be 1) not very good 2) everything 3) a couple kids look okay but we need to see them in a game

Aggies will face a team that's starting over
By Jeff Mills/News & Record jeff.mills@news-record.com | Posted: Thursday, August 21, 2014 4:52 pm N.C. A&T will open its football season against Alabama A&M at the 10th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Orlando, Fla., at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31. It’s a big deal. A celebration of HBCU football nationally televised on ESPN with crowds averaging 19,363 the last five years. The coaches share a common history and a common memory. A&T’s Rod Broadway was the head coach at Grambling when the Tigers lost to S.C. State 34-31 in 2009. A&M’s James Spady was an assistant on Broadway’s staff that year. “I remember how hot it was,” Spady said on a conference call Thursday. “… I’ve had our guys practicing in the heat of the day to get ready. But Huntsville, Alabama, hot doesn’t feel like Orlando, Florida, hot.” “It was hot,” Broadway said. “Lord, it was hot.” And if you were looking for deeper analysis of the upcoming football game, well, let’s just say neither coach was going to tip his hand just yet. Broadway said his Aggies don’t know what to expect. With a new coaching staff at A&M, there’s no relevant game film of the Bulldogs to study. “We have no idea,” Broadway said. “… Our challenge is to learn quick (during the game) and make our adjustments early.” And the Aggies won’t make too much out of what the conference call moderator called “a bowl-game atmosphere.” “It’s just a game,” Broadway said. “… It’s an opportunity for our guys to experience a great atmosphere against a good opponent. But it’s just one game.” For the rest of the story: www.news-record.com/sports/college/aggies-will-face-a-team-that-s-starting-over/article_03df5a3e-2975-11e4-8b2c-001a4bcf6878.html

What's Up My Aggie Brothers & Sistas,
I just wanted to holla and wish you guys well. Just like you all have tried to figure us out, we have tried to figure out what to expect from N.C. A&T also. At a quick glance, I see that you guys are right on many things about our team this year. We are definitely in transition but still, don't underestimate us.Again, I wish this game much success and the best of luck to your team. May the best team win!!!

Amongst our peers (other HBCUs) we are really lacking in coverage of our football program. YEP...and I've been preaching that for more than a decade now. Our overall coverage in local mainstream media is awful.

Yes Aggierattler, I know how you feel about media coverage. .....I waste my time writing papers in NC but get no results. The News and Record is far and away the worst. The W-S journal is probably the best. As far as the Jim Crow Bowl........Noooooo if it means give up the playoff opportunity
