Without going into anyone's business in a public forum, a lot things shouldn't have taken place off the field or in the classroom. Some of these guys are red shorted and some are at JUCOs for a year and we might see them again next spring or fall.
McNeil is a Ragsdale kid. Academics means something there. It did then when I was there in the 70's and it still does today.

It did then when I was there in the 70's and it still does today. You know- everything is changing now. It time to stop recruiting on the bubble kids- whether grades, ACTs, attitude, just too many issues, thinking that one could channel the energy to the football field. Perhaps one can, but one can never determine off the field issues. Furthermore it seems to me that the standards to be an A&T football player are low. It's obvious that Coach B sees this and is doing something about it- thus the subtraction of a number of players. It also seems that coaches have gotten lazy- always looking for a stud (not smart- just very athletic). Give me a player that’s smart, has some athletic ability and has passion for the game- I’ll make him a stud. Isn’t that what’s coaching about?

The thing about FCS football is that you dont really have "studs" unless they are FBS transfers. Everyone else was passed on in one way or another by an FBS school. Whether it be for grades, character, size, or just ability. So it's moronic thinking by a coach to think you can "change" a kid with less resources. Sure, their is always some chances you might take, but you cant take as many as we had been taking in the past and think it wasn't going to bite us in the a$$. With that being said. If about 4 more of those recruits stay and we would be right on parr with a lot of FCS schools.

a 1-10 record, firing of the head coach, lack of stability, and a legacy that includes a recent 27 game losing streak are motives to leave a program. certainly it doesn't help.
i think broadway will bring the stability and good common sense that our program has been lacking for a while. we're a program that has major, major challenges on its hands. but i really think we've got the right coach this time, someone who is "experienced" and doesn't have to go thru on the job training. its gonna take some time to turn things around, but i think we're heading in the right direction...

A good many of those who left and went down a division, to JUCO or to a NAIA school where the academics are a whole lot easier. The only one I read about that went up to a Divsion One program was Payne to Cal or Oregon. I can't remember which.

I agree things seem to be pointed in the right direction. I heard he came out on Sat looking like a assassin LOL. Which goes back to what I have always wanted A&T to do is hire a proven Head Coach. I am still amaze at the qualification of his staff.

i really hated losing that guy. we sure could use his services about now. but if he can't keep his grades up, he'd probably cause more harm than good for us...
